Her Boleyn Inheritance: accusations and false witnesses. Katherine Howard catches the king's eye within moments of arriving at court, setting in motion a dreadful machine of politics, intrigue, and treason that she does not understand. Her Boleyn Inheritance: the threat of the axe. Jane Rochford's name is a byword for malice, jealousy and twisted lust throughout Europe. Her Boleyn Inheritance: a fortune and a title in exchange for her soul.

"So Good I Read it Twice!"
What made the experience of listening to Boleyn Inheritance the most enjoyable?

I had just finished The Other Boleyn Girl...was thrilled to find out there was a second book. The narration was top-notch!

What other book might you compare Boleyn Inheritance to and why?

All Gregory's books in the Tudor series. Also, Connie Williams Oxford time travel books take you back to the 14th century.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

I loved all the narrators. Anne of Cleaves ... she nailed the German accent...and the character had such an air of dignity. Kitty was equally good. Listening to Kitty just knew it was a young girl. So enjoyable!

If you could rename Boleyn Inheritance, what would you call it?

Living in King Henry's Court...a Tale of Three Women

    Any additional comments?

Phillipa Gregory has made me a Tudor fan. Ms. Gregory paints such a rich picture of life within the walls of a palace. I cannot phathom the amount of research that must have gone into these books. I read The Other Bolyen Girl first...was in tears when the book ended as I was not ready to leave court yet...only to find out there is a SERIES!!!!! I had read the Red Queen a few years back. King Henry and all his wives makes for an incredibly interesting story. I especially liked the history lesson on the church of England.

  • McTeague

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 10 mins)

    • Narrated By Wolfram Kandinsky

McTeague, a strong but stupid dentist, marries Trina, introduced to him by her cousin Marcus Schouler. When Trina wins $5,000 in a lottery and increases the sum by shrewd investment, Schouler, who had wanted to marry Trina himself, feels cheated. In revenge, he exposes McTeague's lack of diploma or license. Forbidden to practice, McTeague becomes mean and surly, but the miserly Trina refuses to let him use her money, and they sink into poverty.

Steven Lambert says: "A Long-Awaited Audio Book"
"Coaster Ride of One Man's Life"
If you could sum up McTeague in three words, what would they be?

    money corrupts all

Who was your favorite character and why?

McTeague's wife. Kept hoping she would do the right thing.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When wife would not give McTeague any money, leaving him to walk the streets.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were a lot of twists and turns I did not expect. I liked that.

    Any additional comments?

This is not a book you will play over and over in your mind. However, a good read none the less. Basically, a journey of one man's choices.

  • Edgar Allan Poe - The Complete Short Stories

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 34 mins)
    • By Edgar Allan Poe
    • Narrated By Bob Thomley

All of Edgar Allan Poe’s great short stories in one 16-hour collection.

    Julia says: "A rare treat."
"Loved this collection of short stories!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Edgar Allan Poe - The Complete Short Stories to be better than the print version?

I prefer the audio version rather than print.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I loved the angel of odd circumstances (I think that was what they called him). Great Hungarian accent...very fitting for the character...had me laughing.

Have you listened to any of Bob Thomley’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I honestly do not follow performers...I probably should take notice. Awesome narrator.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

This is an extremely long book. It is a collection of short stories, probably a few novellas. Enjoyable book, I am still listening .... have not heard all the stories yet.

    Any additional comments?

I am guessing Poe must be one of the original "horror" authors. I love good horror, not just blood and guts...stories with a bit of a message to them. There is a reason his writings are still popular today. I highly recommend giving this collection a listen.
