But his enormous skull, lopsided eyes, profound stuttering, and frequent seizures target him for abuse on his Indian reservation. Protected by a formidable friend, the book-loving artist survives childhood. Would you listen to The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian again? Why?

I loved listening to this book - the narrator, humor, messages were both entertaining and thought provoking. I laughed, I cried, I imagined life from the point of view of Junior. I am sure that I would enjoy the book a second or third time and would discover more important messages that went unnoticed early on.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian?

I cannot pick out one memorable moment - from the start when Junior decides to leave the rez, to his first day, Thanksgiving, the night of the dance, his grandmother, the basketball games, the heartbreak - many scenes stirred up many emotions.

What does Sherman Alexie bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

He is so believable as Junior. The accent, the cadence, the timing. He helps to bring the book alive. Junior is very likeable - and Alexie's portrayal enhances Junior's likeablity.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

My interest and enjoyment never wained, and I often would sit in the driveway with my son to keep listening.

    Any additional comments?

The book is a great jumping off point for many issues facing teens. Some may find certain language and references to sex offensive. I felt the references were appropriate and helped to convey Junior as a genuine teen. The book is appropriate for both boys and girls - and it is nice to have a book that would be appealing to most boys. Again, it could be a great catalyst for conversations about bigotry, social class, hope, relationships, social norms, emotions, alcohol, change, choices, and more.

Did I say I loved it?

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

I enjoyed some laughs and Tina Fey's narration. But, sometimes the jokes got old, and I got tired of hearing her perspective. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but listening to the book was like sitting next to a person that constantly speaks about themselves and their opinions. Thankfully she is funny and can tell a good story. But, by the end, I was more than ready to move on. If you like memoirs, this might be a good choice - if not, I'd try something else.

For much of her life, Anne Morrow, the shy daughter of the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, has stood in the shadows of those around her, including her millionaire father and vibrant older sister, who often steals the spotlight. Then Anne, a college senior with hidden literary aspirations, travels to Mexico City to spend Christmas with her family. There she meets Colonel Charles Lindbergh, fresh off his celebrated 1927 solo flight across the Atlantic. Enthralled by Charles’s assurance and fame, Anne is certain the celebrated aviator has scarcely noticed her. But she is wrong.

Would you try another book from Melanie Benjamin and/or Lorna Raver?

No, I would not try another book by the author or the actor. The actor's voice was a bit abrasive and she seemed to pause and draw out each and every phrase. While she was very expressive and conveyed an older Anne, who may have been looking back, the overall pace was much to slow for me.

Couple the slow pace with the writer's detailed, redundant style, and the book seemed endless. While the story had some intrigue, it seemed to go on and on restating the same thought or image three or four times before moving on. Perhaps better editing would have helped. It seemed that the book could have been reduced by 30% at least.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I enjoyed hearing more about the historical elements. I found the characters very unappealing. I tried to put Anne's passive and compliant approach in context of the times, but it was hard for me to like Ann or Charles. They just weren't very sympathetic people. I tend to prefer characters that I can enjoy and connect with - even if they are flawed.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Voice quality and too much pausing.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It was interesting to learn more about the times and the history.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

Where does The Help rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

This is one of the best. Often I listen to a book and think that the audio overcomes shortcomings within the novel. Or the narration does not give the novel justice. This is a perfect marriage of narration and content - all the while making me laugh, cry, think, and remember.

    Any additional comments?

I haven't "read" the book or seen the movie. But I can understand why it is so popular. Wildly entertaining, yet at the same time delivers an important message. I found myself loving (or not) the characters and wanting to spend time with them as I carried my i-phone everywhere, tuned into "The Help".
