"A really good read..."
I am not normally a non-fiction reader but the reviews for this book were pretty good so I thought that I would give it a shot. I am really glad that I did. It was a well written, entertaining and educational read. There were two stories going on - both very engaging. I feel a little bit smarter for reading it! Well worth the time!
"I really wanted to like this book..."
Always afraid to flitter away my credits, I picked this book because it was recommended by the Editor's Picks. I didn't dislike it but did not connect to it the way I had hoped. It isn't the Kite Runner (or Thousand Splendid Suns), or the Time Traveler's Wife or Pillars of the Earth but not a bad read. I am sure that other's really loved this book - I just wasn't one of them.
"My first Steven King listen"
For whatever reason, this is the first time I downloaded a novel by Steven King - and I am glad that I did. I am fond of loooong stories, and this did not disappoint. There were certainly times that you had to suspend belief, but that's King, isn't it? If you are looking for a good listen, no heavy lifting, this is a good one.
"You have to like the narration"
I really enjoyed listening to the "Dead" series by Adian McKintey so decided to download this one as well. It's a good story - I with I had listened to it before the others. It's a nice story line, a good narrator (if you like the Irish broque), a really nice listen - worth the credit.
"I really enjoyed this book"
I really enjoyed this book - but I am an Alice Hoffman fan. Her blending of what is real and what just might be real is interesting and convincing. Then narration was great – calming, soothing and so appropriate for this novel. This is definitely a good read (or listen).
