If you like the series this book is a small part to it. But this narrator obviously never read the books. She completely got the main character wrong. Anita is tough as nails and tougher than most (if not all) of her male counterparts. But this narrator makes her whine. Anita? Whine? Heck no!!! Never!
I have all of the previous audio books for this (except book 10 which seems not to be on audio) and had planned on getting the rest, but after hearing this person read I am going to check. If she did the rest I believe I will have to end here.
Kimberly Alexis did the first nine books and did a good job of it.
There was no book 10 and when I read book ten and then listened to book 11 I found she had been replaced.
Books 11 and 12 were read by Cynthia Holloway. She did an okay job...not great but not bad. I got used to her by the end of book 12 and was then assaulted by someone trying to be breathy and ruining my favorite characters.
If you want to never hear Anita sound like a whiny girl - stay away from this one!
No. I still think the print version is best...but I was so thrilled to finally get this in audio.
This is one of my all time favorite books. NOTHING LIKE THE MOVIE!!! The movie sucked big time and totally lost the feel of the book.
But this book I have read at least 7 times now. It has one of my all time favorite characters from a book...Ben! I love him.
Fun story and I LOVE listening to Jim Dale.
As gifted and incredible as Jim Dale is...I started my love of audio books with the Harry Potter series. If you have listened to all of them, you will swear Harry Potter characters are suddenly in this book.
But it is still Jim Dale and a great book. I say go for it!
I love this story!
Once you get into the story enough you stop noticing the funky breathing/sighs/gasps of the narrator. The problem is once you realize you don't notice it anymore you can't help but hear it again.
