Some zombies are raised. Others must be put down. Just ask Anita Blake. Before now, she would have considered them merely off-putting, never dangerous. Before now, she had never heard of any of them causing human beings to perish in agony. But that’s all changed. Micah's estranged father lies dying, rotting away inside from some strange ailment that has his doctors whispering about "zombie disease". Anita makes her living off of zombies - but these aren’t the kind she knows so well. These creatures hunt in daylight, and are as fast and strong as vampires.

I love this series and Anita Blake!! One of the best parts of this book was that Hamilton focused on a real plot and not just sex scene after sex scene (like in some of the earlier books). It was a distinctly different story than the previous books, which is difficult to do with 22 books in a series. I like that she brought in most of the important supporting characters (Edward/Ted, Nathaniel, Micah, Jean-Claude, Nicky, etc.). Even though they didn't all have a big role, they were still present and had a function (I could have used a little more Jean-Claude, but that's just me). Spoiler alert: I am glad Anita picked up another animal, it opens a lot of doors for the next book.

Paranormal Security and Intelligence Operative Duke Marlow has a new mission: find, interrogate and possibly eliminate the target - Mercy Deluca. He knows looks can be deceiving, but it's hard to believe the beautifully quirky woman running around in a superhero t-shirt is a viable threat. The sexy little biomedical engineer quickly proves she is more than he bargained for and Intel has it all wrong - she's not the enemy. Far from it. Intel also forgot to mention one vital piece of information - she's Duke's mate.

I was really surprised by this book. I liked all the characters and the story line moved along without getting slow in parts. I actually wish it were longer and developed even more. I'm definitely getting book 2.

This book was okay, but I wish I hadn't wasted a credit on it. There is very little development between the two characters. After he screws her over, they have very little interaction but suddenly at the end realize they can't live without each other.

At first I thought this book had some potential, but it never really went anywhere. Both of the main characters were idiots (especially Tommy) and seemed to get dumber in every chapter. The title says "A Love Story," but neither character seemed to particularly like one another. There were a couple of quirky funny parts, but that is about it for the positive aspects.

The narrator was okay and did the best she could with the material.

This was an entertaining book reminiscent of Mary Janice Davidson's undead series. The main character is a bit of a ditz at first, but she grows on you as the story progresses. I will definitely be on the look out for other books by this author.

And by her recent standards, things are actually looking up. Lycanthropes don't faze Anna. Doctoring a wolf pack outside Grundy, Alaska, is the closest thing to home life she's known in years. But hitching a ride to Anchorage with long-absent pack member Caleb Graham - that's a risk. Part of her itches to whack his nose with a newspaper. The rest is trying unsuccessfully to keep her own paws off every delicious inch of him.

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

I usually like everything Molly Harper puts out, but this one was SO BORING!!!! It just dragged on and on. It was also extremely predictable with no surprises whatsoever. I think what contributed to it being so boring was that it kept changing perspectives between five different people. That slowed to story line down to a crawl and made it painful to listen to.

The narration was great, as it always is with Amanda Ronconi.

    Story

I keep thinking this series is going to get better, but it isn't. The author spends very little time on the main characters and the majority of the book on supporting characters and other pointless story lines. I thought the first book did it to establish the setting and characters, but the second book did it too and this book was the absolute worst!!! There was very little interaction between the two main characters at all and absolutely no character development. There isn't even a good plot to make up for it. It was basically a book of all filler and no real content. I kept zoning out because what was going on had little to do with story. I had to force myself to finish the book over and over again. I have never wanted a book to end so badly.

For some reason I just couldn't get into this book. I didn't particularly care for the two main characters or the plot. The story was a little disjointed and seemed to stop and start a lot. The issues between the Gray and Dylan became a little annoying and monotonous. Also, new characters seemed to appear from no where, maybe trying to set up further books.

The first three books in the series were okay and showed some potential, but this one fell short for me. I think this is probably the last book I will get in the series.

I enjoyed this book overall. It had enough action in it to keep it interesting, but also had some decent character development. The characters had enough depth to to pull you into their lives. I will definitely get another book in the series.

The narration was okay, but narrator has some speech quirks that get on my nerves a little. After I got into the story I was able to ignore them.
