I'm sorry, I can't write a review right now, I'm too busy laughing............if you get David's humor, his books are just too much fun. Far better on Audible with David narrating.

If you like Honor (and I do) you'll like this. Allyson Johnson brings a much appreciated consistency to this series. I agree with Jason's review that her distinctive characterizations helps to keep track of the action when things get busy. Enjoyable and recommended to fans of the genre and/or the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It moves smoothly between each of the three principals in a time-line format that proves fascinating. The story compares and contrasts each leader within his own theater of operations as well as his/their impact on a global perspective. Well done and recommended.

Well done and well presented. I could have done without some of the backhanded sarcasm that closes several of the sections but, notwithstanding such editorial commentary, this is a fine selection for those interested in some of US history's lesser known names of greater influence than one might have imagined. It is always important to view their actions and writings in the context of what was "normal" in their day and time. This work does a fine job of bring that contextual focus to the narration. Enjoyable and recommended.

Compelling story line. Nicely narrated. Interesting characters and plenty of action. Well recommended to those that enjoy the genre.

You either get David, or you don't. I'd like to count myself amoungst the former. If you like his unique style, he's a singular treat.

I agree with others who feel the narrator was not effective or perhaps appropriate for the subject: Way to "jovial" and "wiseguy-ish" for my taste. He has a wonderful speaking voice but, for me, his take is totally off the mark. Had this been narrated in a more serious tone, perhaps a voice with more gravitas such as Edward Herrmann, this would have been excellent.

I'd give it a 4.8 if possible. I was so happy to find Sarah after enjoying her work on "This American Life". She is very bright and I really like her voice. Author's are not always the best narrators but Sarah is a clear exception. She is able to communicate exactly what she means with her vocal nuances, particularly her highly developed sense of irony. Well done!

I would have thought this to be an abridged version due to the lack of depth. Less a "definitive guide" than a fairly interesting overview indicating additional areas for study. I would think this to be disappointing for anyone with some reasonable grasp of economics and market analysis but, perhaps, useful for a novice. The greatest value may be in revealing to the casual trader this undeniable fact: reaping profits by timing the market with any consistency is very nearly impossible.

Attention on deck. Gallant Lady is, alas, a waste of precious disk space and should be deep-sixed. Do not expect stealthy tordedo set-ups or classic convoy attacks. This is nothing more than an overblown travelogue of post-war gadding about to various ports of call on meaningless and largely inconsequential missions of.....what exactly are they accomplishing other than burning fuel and consuming alcohol, the world wonders? The only shots are being chased with beer. I was very disappointed and feel the promotional write-up to be misleading at best. Let Gallant Lady pass to port and engage your mind and heart with other worthy reads in this genre, such as "The Bravest Man" and, "Silent Running", both exceptionally well done war chronicles of intrepid submariners on historic battle patrols. Carry on.
