"fascinating and truly enlightening"
It is always pushed on you from an early age how positive thinking is the only way, how you must believe in success and failure is 'a failing'. I have never believed this and have never believed in the fallacy of the self.
The concepts within the book can free you from the stress of peer pressure and allow you to just be and succeed by just being here and now.
It really flies in the face of all the ridiculous books and courses and money-making seminars in such a realistic, cognitive way that is is a breath of fresh air.
It is all very interesting, there are too many to say.
The initial part about the meditation course
yes absolutely
Listen to it, the narration is beautifully done.
"very good"
Yes because it is narrated by him therefore the true Shatner atmosphere is created.
errr, William Shatner
All very funny
Definitely
He never fails to be entertaining
"Way way too long"
Someone with a lot of time to waste
It was too long, it could be condensed into half the time and it would be then interesting
Very good narration, nice intonation
boredom and disappointment really
An abridged version might be better
"Content interesting but Narration poor"
Maybe by Olivia Fox Cabane but not if read by Lisa Cordileione!
The subject matter is very common but it is all very educating.
No. Unfortunately whilst she has a nice voice for the purpose of Narration very little effort has been put into rehearsing the structure. She leads sentences that need pauses into each other and ones that require to lead there are gaps. It is like it has been written with random punctuation. I am shocked really that the Author didn't listen to it before it was released considering the subject matter. Even the producer/editor should have picked up on it .It makes the Author seem very unprofessional and does not inspire you to seek further works.
Why would a professional narrator do such a shoddy job? Does she not want any more work?
Anyone who likes interaction between people really would benefit and anyone who wants to know how not to read aloud.
Redo the narration, same person but done properly
"Very inspiring and interesting but..."
I was led to this book after listening to Oliver Burkeman's book 'The Antidote' and whilst I am totally inspired by Eckharts revelation about the self and the influence our mind has over our perception of the world and I have a real empathy with his teachings it is spoilt in a major way by the publishers complete loss of the point with her totally ego driven introduction. There is no need for the inane comments and it put me off for over a week before I continued listening only doing so because I had nothing to do. Everyone I recommended it to switched off after these comments with the feeling it was just another 60's all we need is love crap. PLEASE REMOVE IT. All that is needed is Eckharts introduction and an explanation of the format of Q & A. Otherwise the message is just lost before it starts as the open minded listener has been biased.
I am very happy that I continued to listen and I recommend the book but don't be put off by the first few minutes please, It is beautifully spoken by Eckhart and he draws you in with the real sincerity of his personality and conviction.
I would recommend listening to 'The Antidote' to Chapter 5 then break off to this book then back to the other.
The complete conviction and honesty expressed by the Author and the gentle way in which he expresses himself
His voice and warmth of calm teachings
Every moment that brought a new understanding building on the one before
REMOVE THE SPOKEN COMMENTS AT THE BEGINNING BY THE PUBLISHER PLEASE
