Philip Norman has long towered above other rock biographers with his definitive studies of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Elton John, Buddy Holly, and John Lennon - legends whom the world thought it knew, but who came to life as never before through the meticulousness of Norman's research, the sweep of his cultural knowledge, and the brilliance of his writing. Now Norman turns to a rock icon who is the most notorious yet enigmatic of them all.

This book was interesting, but not overly compelling. Jagger is such an interesting person, but I didn't get a really intimate feel from the book, perhaps that is just due to a guarded man though.

An iconic figure of the 1960s and '70s, Pattie Boyd breaks a 40-year silence in Wonderful Tonight, and tells the story of how she found herself bound to two of the most addictive, promiscuous musical geniuses of the 20th century and became the most famous muse in the history of rock and roll.

What a treat to hear Pattie tell her story with her own voice! Pattie does a wonderful job at telling her amazing life-story. While a lot of her story is sad, much of it is extraordinary and joyful. Who would not want to be her? My only complaint is that I wish it were not abridged.

Kemal, scion of one of the city's wealthiest families, is about to become engaged to Sibel, daughter of another prominent family, when he encounters Füsun, a beautiful shopgirl and a distant relation. Once the long-lost cousins violate the code of virginity, a rift begins to open between Kemal and the world of the Westernized Istanbul bourgeosie - a world, as he lovingly describes it, with opulent parties and clubs, society gossip, picnics, and mansions on the Bosphorus, infused with the melancholy of decay.

    Story

I recognize this as a great novel. It could have also been a great love story, but I think it ultimately fails in that regard. As a westerner, I simply lost respect for the main characters in their lack of taking control over their own lives. While, I think that was part of the point of the story, it was very frustrating. Especially considering the length of the book. I enjoyed learning about Istanbul and how its society operated during that time. Someday I would like to visit the museum in Turkey. The very best thing about this audio book is the narrator. John Lee is the best narrator I have ever listened to. Wonderful performance!

Chronicling his embodiment of the American Dream, Total Recall covers Schwarzenegger's high-stakes journey to the United States, from creating the international bodybuilding industry out of the sands of Venice Beach, to breathing life into cinema's most iconic characters, and becoming one of the leading political figures of our time. Proud of his accomplishments and honest about his regrets, Schwarzenegger spares nothing in sharing his amazing story.

What at amazing man Arnold is! He was able to conquer so many things in life out of sheer will and determination! His work ethic is so admirable. I found the part about his California governship to be a little slow, but other than that, this book was extremely entertaining. An added bonus is that the author reads the first and last chapters of the book.

This is one of the most amazing books ever! The story draws you in and you are right there with the characters. While difficult to listen to at times, you just can't leave the characters all alone on the ocean. The narrater is just perfect for this story. Long live Richard Parker!!!

I thought this was going to be a piece of fluff. But it was highly entertaining! There were so many twists and turns. Also, there were so many potential villians and actual villains and victims. It keeps you guessing until the very end!
