The quest for the long-lost Elfstones has drawn the leader of the Druid order and her followers into the hellish dimension known as the Forbidding, where the most dangerous creatures banished from the Four Lands are imprisoned. Now the hunt for the powerful talismans that can save their world has become a series of great challenges: a desperate search for kidnapped comrades, a relentless battle against unspeakable predators, and a grim race to escape the Forbidding alive. But though freedom is closer than they know, it may come at a terrifying price.

I have been reading Terry Brooks since Sword of Shannara was released. I have re-read the books and listened to all of them on audiobooks. The first book in this new series was okay. This one is an okay listen and I will still buy the next book in the series but this book seemed like several old books put together. Ellcrys is dying; go get the seed but chosen is ambushed; Ard Rhys captured in forbidding, go rescue her. Old Ard Rhys up in the far north, go save her. Presumably another Tannaquil will be needed.

Dubbed the American Tolkien by Time magazine, George R. R. Martin has earned international acclaim for his monumental cycle of epic fantasy. Now the number-one New York Times best-selling author delivers the fifth book in his spellbinding landmark series - as both familiar faces and surprising new forces vie for a foothold in a fragmented empire.

    Story

George RR Martin has written a fantastic story. Complex characters, intricate plot, excitement, suspense, fun. Superlative! And the books maintain the same quality as the story goes along. Thank goodness Martin wrote such an awesome series , because Roy Dotrice does such an awful job with the narration in this 5th book (as well as the 4th) in the series, that it is only the plot line that keeps me going. I, like many other reviewers, wonder HOW Dotrice could have done such a great job with the first 3 books and mangle the 4th and 5th SO badly?!?! As many noted in Book 4, Aria sounds like an old crone. I didn't like that but it didn't grate on my nerves nearly as much as Daenerys in Book 5. She sounds like a little old (male) leprechaun. Beautiful, sensual, strong, sexy Daenerys! It is possibly the worst narration I have ever heard. All the characters sound male; all sound like uneducated oafs, many (even big, strong knights) sound like squeaky little wimps.

I have a sincere plea for Mr. Martin: You have two more books coming out in this series. PLEASE FIND A BETTER NARRATOR FOR THEM! I'm not sure I can stand to listen to the Mother of Dragons in her squeaky little Irish brogue much longer!

After a slow summer of chasing low-level skips for her cousin Vinnie's bail bonds agency, Stephanie Plum finally lands an assignment that could put her checkbook back in the black. Geoffrey Cubbin, facing trial for embezzling millions from Trenton's premier assisted-living facility, has mysteriously vanished from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Now it's on Stephanie to track down the con man. Unfortunately, Cubbin has disappeared without a trace, a witness, or his money-hungry wife. Rumors are stirring that he must have had help with the daring escape...or that maybe he never made it out of his room alive.

    Story

If you liked the first 18 you'll probably like this. All your favorite characters are here, Stephanie is in all her usual messes, it will make you laugh. Lorelei King is wonderful. I love her voices. However, the entire book is just a few hours long and the story line is very simplistic. But then, we don't read these books for intellectual stimulation, do we? We read them for fun and this book is fun.

In this first volume of his memoirs, then-newly-qualified vet James Herriot arrives in the small Yorkshire village of Darrowby, and he has no idea what to expect. How will he get on with his new boss? The local farmers? And what will the animals think? This program is filled with hilarious and touching tales of the unpredictable Siegfried Farnon, his charming student brother Tristan, and Herriot's first encounters with a beautiful girl named Helen.

I read this book years ago. Recently, I listened to it. It is one of the few books that is actually better as an audiobook than as a physical book. The stories are poignant, funny and timeless. Christopher Timothy is perfect in his narration. My only complaint is that he has not done more audiobooks. Buy this, listen to it, then buy the other books in the series. I guarantee you will have hours of pleasure and will listen to these books over and over.

When the world was young, and its name was Faerie, the power of magic ruled - and the Elfstones warded the race of Elves and their lands, keeping evil at bay. But when an Elven girl fell hopelessly in love with a Darkling boy of the Void, he carried away more than her heart. Thousands of years later, tumultuous times are upon the world now known as the Four Lands. Users of magic are in conflict with proponents of science. Elves have distanced their society from the other races. The Druid order is threatened.

If you love Shannara; if you love Terry Brooks, you will enjoy this book. Interesting but familiar characters; good story. I wish Scott Brick was back to read the book; even Phil Gigante would be okay. Rosalyn Landor is a great narrator but she just isn't a good fit for a Shannara book. Overall, this is definitely "credit-worthy"! One caveat: this is the first of a trilogy and all sorts of things are left hanging at the end of the book. It is NOT a stand-alone book. But it's a fantasy trilogy, right? So relax and enjoy a trip back to Shannara!

Fly away with Peter Pan to the enchanted island of Neverland! This first chapter book adaptation of the classic novel, originally published in 1911, tells the story of the boy who never grows up. And when they join Peter on his magical island, Wendy and her brothers are in for exciting encounters with mermaids, an Indian princess, and pirates! Let the amazing adventures begin!

How fun is this! As a tried and true lover of fantasy, I find so many new "fantasy" books poor imitations of their predecessors. But Stoneheart is different, fun, entertaining. I guess its considered a "kids" book but I left my teenager years behind a few decades ago and I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to listen to the other two. As an added bonus, it's read by Jim Dale, who read the Harry Potter books-- He's fantastic!

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

He is fantastic and he is voiced perfectly. If you love fantasy, you will love these books. Get all three in the series!!
