    • Narrated By Toby Longworth

It's the 21st century, and global warming is here to stay, so forget the way your country used to look. And get used to the free market, too – the companies possess all the best hardware, and they're calling the shots now. In a world like this, a man open to any offers can make out just fine. A man like Greg Mandel for instance, who's psi-boosted, wired into the latest sensory equipment, carrying state-of-the-art weaponry – and late of the English Army's Mindstar Battalion.

Michael G. Kurilla says: "Portrait of a SciFi master as a novice"
"less than the authors other works."

What did you like best about Mindstar Rising? What did you like least?

I liked the action , but the corporate setting, and scaled back technology was a disappointment. Less epic than I expect from the author.

If you’ve listened to books by Peter F. Hamilton before, how does this one compare?

    Lackluster

Would you listen to another book narrated by Toby Longworth?

    Maybe, pretty dull sometimes

Could you see Mindstar Rising being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

    No

    Any additional comments?

    Eh......

  • The Martian Chronicles

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Ray Bradbury
    • Narrated By Ray Bradbury

    (151)
    Story
    (154)

In lyrical prose, Bradbury describes the decline of the mysterious and fragile Martian civilization, overwhelmed by the human newcomers. Bradbury reads these tales of common people - families, truck-stop owners, priests - who confront a new world with their human pride, fears, tenderness, and greed intact. And at the heart of each story lies the basic conflict between man's search for new frontiers and his irresistible urge for the comfort of the past.

The second Dune installment explores new developments on the planet Arrakis, with its intricate social order and strange, threatening environment. Dune Messiah picks up the story of the man known as Muad'Dib, heir to a power unimaginable, bringing to fruition an ambition of unparalleled scale: the centuries-old scheme to create a superbeing who reigns not in the heavens but among men. But the question is: DO all paths of glory lead to the grave?

If you could sum up Dune Messiah in three words, what would they be?

    Dune still rocks

What other book might you compare Dune Messiah to and why?

    Nothing like the dune world

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I was spoiled by the full cast in the first book

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Dunes secret will enslave your body but free your mind
