Cody Westcott, a young archeologist, returned from a dig at Apachetarimac with more than he bargained for. Seems the Chachapoyans that he had been studying had a lot to teach us all. Soon he steps through the looking glass but unlike Alice its no fairytale world that he finds. Instead it is our own world teeming with Interlopers-Those Who Abide. Unseen by the mass of humanity they are aware that Cody can now see them. They dont like it.

more background on some of the characters and groups.

Have you listened to any of Ben Browder’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to him before, but have seen him on several tv shows. he does a good job presenting but starts off a little slow paced.

Did Interlopers inspire you to do anything?

    move my houseplants outside.

Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was a fun listen and kept me entertained.

Would you be willing to try another book from John Scalzi? Why or why not?

This is my fifth John Scalzi book. the others were more serious and seemed a little better written or at least presented.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The performance by veteran actor will wheaton was very good. some of the speach in text He said, she said. was a bit annoying in parts but that was the writing not the presenting.

Could you see Redshirts being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

maybe a movie in the vane of Galaxy Quest.

  • Monster in My Closet

I stopped believing in monsters long ago. But I knew I wasn't imagining things when I found one in my kitchen baking muffins. I'd seen him before: lurking in my closet, scaring the crap out of my five-year-old self. Turns out that was a misunderstanding, and now Maurice needs a place to stay. How could I say no? After all, I've always been a magnet for the emotionally needy, and not just in my work as a wedding planner. Being able to sense the feelings of others can be a major pain.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This book was interesting to me because it was not inside my usual area of interest and the Fae world was opened up in a humorous, quirky and unexpected way. the author kept the story moving quickly and lightly. There were a few, i thought so moments, but overall a good listen. i would recommend this to a friend.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Tied up most of the story lines in the book, but left some seemingly minor issues open for possible next book tie-ins.

Have you listened to any of Rebecca Gibel’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

First time for Rebecca Gibel, but would seriously listenting to other books by her.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    even chance of yes.

  • Under the Dome: A Novel

On an entirely normal, beautiful fall day in Chester's Mill, Maine, the town is inexplicably and suddenly sealed off from the rest of the world by an invisible force field. Planes crash into it and fall from the sky in flaming wreckage, a gardener's hand is severed as "the dome" comes down on it, people running errands in the neighboring town are divided from their families, and cars explode on impact. No one can fathom what this barrier is, where it came from, and when - or if - it will go away.

Would you try another book from Stephen King and/or Raul Esparza?

    Yes

Would you ever listen to anything by Stephen King again?

    Maybe

    Any additional comments?

King is usually fantastic, but the ending of his tower (excluding the new book) and this one are not up to his usual standards. The story is slow, convoluted and the characters were polarized as exteremely good or exteremely bad. The Concept had alot of potential but the way it worked out was sad.
