David Pepin has been in love with his wife, Alice, since the moment they met in a university seminar on Alfred Hitchcock. After 13 years of marriage, he still can’t imagine a remotely happy life without her—yet he obsessively contemplates her demise. Soon she is dead, and David is both deeply distraught and the prime suspect.

"Do I really want to finish this book."
    Overall

I finish things, thats just the way I am, but there is no pleasure in the thought of finishing this book. I am 70% though it and struggle with the depressing insights into the lives of the characters in this story. Well written? Perhaps. Imaginative?...Definitely. Entertaining. hmmmm, too hard to say yes.
I will still finish it. Perhaps a good ending my cause me to revise this. We shall see.

A smashing, award-winning debut novel that introduces Charley Davidson: part-time private investigator and full-time Grim Reaper. Charley sees dead people. That’s right, she sees dead people. And it’s her job to convince them to “go into the light”. But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e. murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she’s been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all.

Definitely not for mystery readers, unless that is you have a penchant for clothes and make-up. A chick book all of the way. Unbearable.

  • The End of the Affair

Graham Greene’s evocative analysis of the love of self, the love of another, and the love of God is an English classic that has been translated for the stage, the screen, and even the opera house. Academy Award-winning actor Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, A Single Man) turns in an authentic and stirring performance for this distinguished audio release.

I wanted to like this novel, and although the narration is excellent, i committed the ultimate sin, and closed the book, prior to finishing it. The author's struggle with his belief system just wore me out. I tired of the love hate relationship with God, Lover, and Self. Again, and again the reader subjected to the melodrama of conflicted beliefs. One might say that the dark side of the text, what was between the lines railed against my own beliefs, and that after awhile, i just had enough.....perhaps.
    This audiobook was a disappointment.

Iain Pears tells the story of John Stone, financier and arms dealer, a man so wealthy that in the years before World War One he was able to manipulate markets, industries, and indeed entire countries and continents. A panoramic novel with a riveting mystery at its heart, Stone's Fall is a quest to discover how and why John Stone dies, falling out of a window at his London home.

New Your TImes state that if you liked "In the Name of the Rose," go out and by "Instance of the Fingerpost." If you liked instance, you will surely enjoy this novel. Well crafted, with so many points of detail that come together in the end.
The narrators were wonderful, adding just the correct tone to the character.

    Well done Mr. Pears!

Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) rocks this mock bedtime story, capturing a hilarious range of emotions as the voice of a father struggling to get his child to sleep. Go the F**k to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don’t always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland.

I thought that this would be funny.
In the end i cannot think of anybody that i can think of that i could sit in a room with, and not feel embarrassed and apologetic while this played.
    A definite pass....even for a freebee

  • The Reversal: Harry Bosch, Book 16 (Mickey Haller, Book 3)

Longtime defense attorney Mickey Haller is recruited to change stripes and prosecute the high-profile retrial of a brutal child murder. After 24 years in prison, convicted killer Jason Jessup has been exonerated by new DNA evidence. Haller is convinced Jessup is guilty, and he takes the case on the condition that he gets to choose his investigator, LAPD Detective Harry Bosch.

    Andrew Pollack says: "Brilliantly executed"

    Overall

This formula script was less than entertaining, almost burdensome. None of the Bosch I expected was there. Clearly the authors heart was not in it or he is no longer inspired. Alas, I spent the time for a book with no ending.

I guess i am done with M. Connelly.
