I listened to, and very much enjoyed, the author's first two books, which he also narrated. So when I saw he was also narrating this latest offering, I downloaded it with great anticipation. After only a couple hours of listing, I had to turn it off, as the narration was of such poor quality. I struggled to understand the additional performers, so much so I was unable to engage in the story. I understand including these others narrators is supposed to give a greater sense of "authenticity" to the story, but their performances are distracting and at times barely understandable.
I know I'd love this story, but I am unwilling to continue the struggle to understand. As an avid audiobook listener, I fully understand it not only takes an engaging story, but skilled narration to make a performance "work". Sadly, I will be unable to finish this book, and recommend you download with caution.
Warning - the "sample" narration included by Audible is of the author, who only does portions of the book, and is not indicative of the other male and female narrators - the ones I, and it appears many others, struggle with.
