A blessed event becomes a nightmare for pregnant homicide detective Jane Rizzoli when she finds herself on the wrong side of a hostage crisis in this timely and relentless new thriller from the New York Times best-selling author of Body Double.

Amazon Customer says: "Great story, but...."
"Definitely not as great as her other books"
    Overall

I like to read/listen to Gerristens books, but the reader on this one had me droning out. The story line wasn't very good but the twist at the end was pretty good. In comparison to her other books this one didn't quite measure up.

Enter the hilarious world of ten-year-old Kenny and his family, the Weird Watsons of Flint, Michigan. There's Momma, Dad, little sister Joetta, Kenny, and Byron, Kenny's older brother, who at thirteen is an "official juvenile delinquent." When Momma and Dad decide it's time for a visit to Grandma, Dad comes home with the amazing Ultra-Glide, and the Watsons set out on a trip like no other. Heading south, they're going to Birmingham, Alabama, and toward one of the darkest moments in America's history.

Melissa says: "Required reading but not too bad"
    "Hilarious and moving"
    Overall

I love this book and have listened to it several times. Set during the times of the Civil Rights movement it is a story of the hilarious happenings of the "weird Watsons" and their trip to Burmingham from Michigan. Quite the culture shock for them but this is one of the best family stories our family has heard in long time!

Best-selling author Stephanie Grace Whitson is a two-time Christy Award finalist. Deep in Lakota Sioux territory in 1878, a torched farmstead is discovered by American soldiers. Hidden in the cellar is Laina Gray, delirious and pregnant. Nursed back to health by a woman who trusts God's healing hand, Laina recovers but continues to closely guard her terrible secrets.

    Rae says: "Good story!"
    "A nice discovery"

If you like Janette Oke's books then you will like this book. The narrator is the same, and sounds better in this book than in Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly. The story is romantic and hopeful and I enjoyed listening to it.
