J.R.R Tolkien wrote characters we can sympathize with, laugh with and laugh at. We feel repugnance toward some of them, and a deep respect for others. The Hobbit is multi-layered tale, and well crafted, exciting, funny...even moving. Adults can enjoy it because it is written so beautifully. Children can enjoy it because there is so much action, so much bravery as well as treachery, that even if they don't understand each and every word, there is little chance of young people becoming bored with it.
Rob Inglis has a deep, rich voice, and he has a great knack for adapting character's voices to fit them perfectly. His diction was clear and there was never a time when I didn't understand what he said due to mumbling.
