Nevada Barr's fans will need no other reader's opinion to spring for her latest Anna Pigeon novel - suffice it to say from a fellow fan that this is as good or better than her best so far. Those who are thinking of checking out Barr's books will not be disappointed either, though it would be better to visit your library (sorry Audible) and get her earlier Anna Pigeon works (such as HUNTING SEASON) and work your way through. I predict you mystery afficionados beginning to tire of the sameness of so many series will be refreshed with the originality of the national park settings written by an honest-to-god ranger. Not to mention armchair outdoor adventurists. An easy FIVE STARS For Anna!
With no credits available and having blown my book budget, I went searching on audible for something very low-priced this time. This 39-hour version of the Dickens classic Little Dorrit, was listed at less than $5.00, which I thought had to be a typo. But I saw it had a couple of reviews ranking it as good as the much higher-priced 37-hour version, so decided to give it a try. I was immensely entertained throughout, even though the length (indeed 39 hours) was daunting at first--that is, before I started listening I had doubts about the length. The narrator is perfect! More of him! I even enjoyed his throat-clearing away from the mic. Has to be the best buy on audible.
