Loved this book. Loved the characters and story line. Easy to follow and believable.
the storyline was so predictable. A pet peeve of mine is when a character (usually, but not always, female) is in danger and she assumes she isn't. Really??? Are women so stupid that they can't see the danger for what it is?
I just didn't care about the characters
The narration was bland and not a very clear voice.
she was very gravelly and bland in expression.
I am a fan of Amy Tan. I was disappointed at the overarching theme of sex. I'm not prudish when it comes to sex in a book, however when 90% of the book centers around it, I become uncomfortable.
Amanda has clearly and honestly written about the most difficult time in her life. Her courage and will to survive are inspiring. The performance was sincere, genuine and excellent!
The thread of hope throughout. The honesty.
Clear, genuine, sincere.
I found myself intrigued from the beginning of the book. I enjoyed the character development as well as the scenery and description of the surroundings. Even opened my eyes to the beauty of India.
I had hoped that the story line would be the "star" of this book. The synopsis really grabbed me. I was pretty put off by the multiple sexual situations. I truly don't mind sexual situations when it is integral to the story, but these sexual situations were gratuitous and too many. I found that i wanted to love the characters and follow them, but the sex got in the way, so I didn't even finish the book.
The story started off pretty good. I did enjoy getting to know some of the police characters, but lost interest after awhile
Even though I was able to guess the link early on, it was generally enjoyable getting there.
This is a new author for me. I am looking forward to reading more of her work. Great story. Naration was great too.
