This was a very hard book to listen to. Although it is a wonderful story it is hard to listen to the wrongs done to this young man. I would get so frustrated listening to the story I would almost come to tears.
The strength that Jovan was able to show throughout the story. He would get down but pull himself right back up.
The first couple chapters of the book was poorly written and took a very long time to grab my interest. But hang in there, it get better. I almost quit listening but stuck with it and so very glad I did. It is an excellent story and makes us even more aware of the wrongs done in our justice system. Corruption still exists and probably always will. A handful of very bad cops sadly reflects on all.
I have listened to other Ann Rule books and they were very good and kept my interest throughout the whole book. This book really dragged and was very slow. The storyline lacked holding my interest. The information was repeated a lot and the story just went on and on. I would not recommend this as a good listen.
Hard to listen to and hear all the conversations. Sometimes different characters talked over one another. The story was not all that great, would not recommend to buy this book. Maybe check it out from the library for free.
Knowing these were true stories it was very disturbing listening to the stories and our justice system and society, but I enjoyed very much. The time flew by and kept me very interested in all the stories. I will definitely get more Ann Rule books.
This was way over the top ridiculous but I listened to the whole thing. Even though it was far fetched I listened and tried to figure out who did it. It was an easy listen and kept me company as I drove down the highway. The end was very weird in that there was no motive why this person murdered all these people, so very disappointed in that. The narrator did a good job on the read.
I have tried to listen to this good but it is soooo boring. I have listened for about 2 hours and it has not said anything yet or come up with a story line. I am done with it. can not listen any longer.
This book may appeal to a young teen, but I doubt it. Very very boring, no story line. I listened to half of the first book and gave it up. The more I listened the more frustrated I was getting with the story. I even fast forwarded through a lot of it to see if it picked up but it just stayed boring and repetitive. Hopefully it picked up in the second book but I could not stand it long enough to get there. Actually the narrator did an okay job but he had a really crummy story to work with.
First I did not like the narrator and the Irish accent he used. It was hard to understand him in some parts of the book. It took a while to get into the book. I almost quit listening after the first 30 minutes because it was not going anywhere but stuck it out. Turned out to be a fairly good story. It is not an award winning book but okay to fill the time.
This is a very good story and really enjoyed the book once I got to part 2. Part 1 was way too long with way too much background on himself and family. This info did not make a difference knowing all that to hear the story of his Pirate experience. While Captain Phillips was on the ship and experiencing the capture by the pirates the book went on too long about his wife and was very repetitive on what she was going through and how she was handling the situation. The narrator was very good. I enjoyed listening to him. I also saw the movie and there is a lot more information in the book about the time spent on the ship than what is given in the movie.
From the first chapter to the last the book is very predictable. It is an okay listen. Passes time when driving down the road.
This book is so bad. I really considered returning it. I could not listen to the whole book. Unclear who or what her God is. I think maybe the Universe. Unclear what the point of the story was. Just don't waste your money.
