The police are convinced that Julia Ransom was guilty of the brutal murder of her husband, renowned psychic August Ransom. But after six months of investigation and media frenzy, she is free of their scrutiny, because of the lack of evidence. One afternoon she walks from her Pacific Heights home to Fisherman's Wharf, alone, unwatched - and, she realizes, happy. But not for long.

    Story

This book was like reading something written by a fifteen year old for a twelve year old to read. It was so ridiculous in so many places! No character development, jumped all around and was just plain a waste of time. It hurt to listen to the end but did so hoping it would somehow get better, it did not.

James A. Garfield may have been the most extraordinary man ever elected president. Born into abject poverty, he rose to become a wunderkind scholar, a Civil War hero, and a renowned and admired reformist congressman. Nominated for president against his will, he engaged in a fierce battle with the corrupt political establishment. But four months after his inauguration, a deranged office seeker tracked Garfield down and shot him in the back. But the shot didn’t kill Garfield. The drama of what happened subsequently is a powerful story of a nation in turmoil.

In Chicago, an FBI agent is killed in a psychiatrist's waiting room. In New York, the jurors from a controversial trial are murdered one by one. The only connections between the two: a flamboyant shock-jock, whose on-air comments seem to be taking him dangerously close to the edge; and a woman, her body misshapen since childhood, whose job it is to clean up crime scenes, and maybe create them as well. This is a federal case, and Mallory's been told that the FBI wants no part of her.

This book was fast moving with lots of turns and twists. Personally didn't care for the ending but understand it. Love the Mallory and the depth of her character, well done and insightful.

A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

If you could sum up A Case of Redemption in three words, what would they be?

    Intense, funny, surprises

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I found myself making time to listen whenever possible.

    Any additional comments?

The surprising turn of events was really a shocker. The book was a bit slow starting but the development of the story was wonderful. Great narration.

On location in Boston, bad-boy actor Jumbo Nelson is accused of the rape and murder of a young woman. From the start the case seems fishy, so the Boston PD calls on Spenser to investigate. Things don't look so good for Jumbo, whose appetites for food, booze, and sex are as outsized as his name. He was the studio's biggest star, but he's become its biggest liability...

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Yes, definitely I'd remove all the "he said, she said," at the end of every sentence or statements. Come on, it is so very annoying.

Would you be willing to try another book from Robert B. Parker? Why or why not?

I have listened to several of Robert B. Parker books and most are not this bad with redundant grammar.

Have you listened to any of Joe Mantegna’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Joe Mantegna is a wonderful performer.

Was Sixkill worth the listening time?

I guess it was alright but required continued stopping to get over the annoyance of the "she said, he said."

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is back, packing a whole lot of attitude. This time around, she's on the trail of Kenny Mancuso, a boy from the working-class burg of Trenton, New Jersey, who has just shot his best friend. Fresh out of the Army and suspiciously wealthy, Mancuso's also distantly related to Joe Morelli, a vice cop with questionable ethics, a libido in permanent overdrive, and a habit of horning in on Stephanie's investigations.

Mary DiNunzio gets a terrifying telephone call while she's working late, then goes home to find a shadow lurking at her front door. When a lawyer close to her turns up dead, Mary begins to suspect that the case she's been working on, involving the suicide of an Italian-American in an internment camp during World War II, may not be ancient history after all.
