It was a crime so brutal, it changed the lives of even the most hardened homicide cops. The Haas family murders left a scar on the community nothing can erase, but everyone agrees that convicting the killer, Karl Dahl, is a start. Only Judge Carey Moore seems to be standing in the way. Her ruling that Dahl's prior criminal record is inadmissible raises a public outcry, and puts the judge in grave danger.

    "A little too predictable"
    Overall

This was a pretty good book, in a pulp fiction kind of way but it was a bit too predictable and the characters were rather shallow and stereotypical: All the victims were women--all the women were victims, and the men were either psycopathic killers, cheating scumbags or emotionally stunted. I guess it would make a good movie for "Lifetime" TV

While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call. The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, a baffling cipher found near the body. As Langdon and gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, sort through the bizarre riddle, they are stunned to discover a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci, clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

    Jonas says: "Overall Good"
    "Don't waste your time"
    Overall

Don't waste your time with this one; read Brown's "Angels and Demons" instead: The story telling is tighter, the stakes are higher, the characters are better developed. In fact, in "DaVinci", it's assumed that we already know Robert Langdon. If I had not already read "Angels and Demons" I might not feel this way about "DaVinci" but I was very disappointed in how similar they are: Secret societies, pretty female sidekick, hulking henchmen, corrupt Cardinals. There is very little originality in "The DaVinci Code." I won't bother finishing it.
