I started with Elantris (another Sanderson novel) and was so impressed with the originality and talent Sanderson showed, i thought "is he really this good or it is it a fluke?" So i moved onto the misborn series- not a fluke. I seriously listened to the last part of "The Final Empire" for 6 hours straight dying to know how it would end. Dont stop here- Keep reading (listening). I have moved onto "Warbreaker."

I am not a professor of literature like previous reviewers make the impression of, i have not read other books/series by this author for comparison so keep that in mind as you read my review. A review i read on amazon (i like to use other sites to get broader opinions) compared this book to that of Patricia Brigg's Mercy Thompson series. I would NOT go that far, but it wasnt bad. I gave it three stars (and not higher) for two reasons. First, it did take me 3 hours of listening to get into the book. This was mostly for the second reason though- I really disliked the dialog when Jane was in her other "forms". So much so that i skipped one chapter entirely because it was bugging me so much. Eventually however you get sucked into the the plot enough that those few chapters are bearable. Other than that, i found the story and characters interesting and well developed. I will probably try the next in the series at some point but as it is, i do not regret the credit spent.

i have read this whole series multiple times and 5 months after downloading this book i still have not been able to endure through the reading by this chic. I listen to about 2-3 books a month and have yet to not be able to bear the narration enough to actually get through the book. I am very aware when you are listening to a book you have to have some forgiveness toward the reader- they may not give the story "the voice" you would yourself- but this is past that. Its like she is reading the book for the first time with out really knowing or understanding the characters and having never performed in her life. I understand there are other recordings out that are actually good, dont waste credits with audible on this one- try another vendor if you are wanting to listen to the series that brought vampires back to life.

Not having read anything but this Author, the reviews are what tempted me to give it a try. I am not a fan of cheesy romances or books of this genre that can be just one sexual escape after another. I mean, come on, how bout a page turning plot that happens to have a hot romantic story to it too. And this is what Singh delivers. This book is sexy and riviting with an interesting original take on the angel/vampire story. I found this writer much better than others like Christine Feehan or Karen Moning who i found utterly predictable and boring. Loved it. So much so that i went out and bought the second of the series (which was equally well written!) Shame on Audible for not carring more books from this series. i have every intention of looking into the psy/changling series by Singh through other vendors. You wont regret dropping a credit on this one.

I finished listening to Moon Called (the 1st book in this series) and immediately bought the whole series in print and read them all in a week. I then bought the audio of the 5th book, Silver Borne, because i loved it so much. To me the 1st and 5th were the best, but the whole series is extremely well done. Wasnt crazy about the voice of the male lead in Moon Called but for the record by Silver Borne this narrator was in her stride and every voice was perfectly suited to the characters. Other great thing about these as audio is that they are not that long but long enough. LOVED THIS BOOK. Nice steamy ending too though this one is the only one in the series that were really focused on romance. FYI- the rumor is there will be a 6th book in 2011. I checked!

Romance is well integrated but definately not the focal. Could listen to this at work with out being worried about what others would over hear. I almost did not get this book because there was some really harsh reviews. So i have few things to say about that.

If you are a Nora Roberts fan, the plot should be right up your alley (as i found it very typical of Roberts.) If you are a fan of audio books, the narration should not bother you. i have listened to A LOT of books. while not great narration, (the lead male character's voice was a bit irksome) i have heard REALLY bad narration and this does not meet the criteria of REALLY bad. To me, it again was typical. SO- if you are used to listening to books where the narrator takes liberties with voices you should be ok with this one. The plot wasnt Roberts best, but it was ok. For a weekend spent doing yard work i found this book good enough to keep me entertained while i worked and do not regret the points spent. I feel like a lot of the criticism i read came from people who were either not familiar with Roberts or used to audio books.

I am not a huge fan of Nora Roberts. But i have read a few books of hers. About as many as i have hated i have liked, so i keep her as a back up when i am looking for something to kill time. Black Hills i think is the best book i have read by her. Which is funny because one of my complaints about her is she is unoriginal. Which this title proves since it is in essence Montana Sky. It is like she wanted a "redo" on Montana Sky and came up with this one instead. The character/ plot developement seemed much more thought out than some of her other titles. While it wasnt a "keep you guessing" mystery, it was well conceived. The narrator is also good. Not the best book i have ever read but it is the best Nora Roberts.

would like to think i would like the book better if i read it myself, but honestly i will never be able to get the narrators voice out of my head. He was fine as the guy even though i found his accent inconsistent (sometimes he sounded more deep south than Scottish.) But when he read the female character's parts, it was just plain bad. Dont waste your credits. I thought the others were exagerating- they werent. It is that bad.
