"Inglis' reading truly honors Tolkien!"
Inglis' reading is masterful and inspiring. From the many different vocal characterizations to his moving interpretations of the songs and the poems, and to the pathos and humor he conveys, Robert Inglis gives us a reading that is truly faithful to the spirit of Professor Tolkien's Magnum Opus. This is much more than engaging entertainment to help pass the time, this is a deeply moving and powerful rendition of a work that has shaped the very cultural DNA of our society. All hail Tolkien and Inglis!
I love them all, but the personal transformation of Sam Gamgee inspires me the most. Through all he experienced--the wonder of the Elves, the suffering of a grueling journey, the horror of Mordor and more, he grew as a person--in courage, steadfastness, faithfulness, wisdom, and selfless love. Sam is Everyman, and so is a way for readers (hearers!) to truly enter the Tale and experience its transforming power for themselves.
I've listened to his reading of "The Hobbit" all 'three' books in "The Lord of the Rings, and each is deeply satisfying on every level.
I've listened to the whole story countless times, and have been moved by many moments, but the courage of Eowyn and Merry as they face the horror of the witch-King is an especially powerful scene.
You'll become a better person if you listen to these marvelous narrations. Give Tolkien and Inglis the chance to prove it!
