I read this book in paperback years ago and thought it might be nice to revisit it in audio form. It is a funny, witty and very entertaining story. My biggest problem is the narrator. It is not the voices she does, because they are very good. My problem is the swallowing sound that she makes constantly. I usually listen to audio books on my Ipod. The sound is quite distracting and a little disgusting to listen to it through earphones. I'm not really happy about having to write this review, but I just want anyone else who would purchase this to be aware that the noise occurs ALOT. Other than that, I have no problem with the story or narrator.

Of all the books I've read from Lisa Kleypas, I think this is first time I really could not stand the heroine of the book. I understand strong willed and usually Lisa gets it right. Lillian, however was equal parts annoying and irritating. She was childish, arrogant, selfish and rude. I know her parents were a real trip, but to me that did not excuse the way she behaved. Even her sister felt the need to apologize to a mutual friend for the things that Lillian said to her. When Lillian got so angry that Westcliff talked to her father about them that she left her room in her night clothes, seemed just too much. Overall I think this was a good story and I loved all the other characters. Yes, even St.Vincent and the old countess. At least they did'nt have crazy mood swings.

I read the good reveiws and purchased. What I missed where the reveiws that said the story was wordy. As you listen to the narrator you start to wonder when she was going to get back to the story and get off how a character feels or felt years ago that really did not move the story along at all. Just words and description that the writers wanted to add. It almost feels like they got paid per word, because there were alot of them that the story really does not need. Also, there were some parts of the story that were repetitive to the point of being completely useless to the story any longer.

The first time I experienced this series was when I purchased "Naked In Death" It just seemed interesting and since it was the first one I figured if I did not like it, I would just not buy any other books. When I heard Susan do Roarke for the first time, that was it for me. I love this character! He is sexy, cool, loving, loyal, and hopelessly in love with Eve. Kudos to Susan for the brilliant job she does with all the character voices, but especially for the way she manages to bring all of Roarke's emotions and feelings for Eve alive and while holding on to that sexy Irish accent.
