Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Like most who get this title, would like to more about the process and understand the various ways to go about it. Went with a broker only to discover he was making recommendations that benefited his commissions. Lost money in the process. So have been timid going at it on my own.

This title helps describe some basic components but always seem to warn that one could easily lose money as well. So I felt like I was taking one step forward and two back.

So for me this title provide a skimming overview. Touching on a number of topics but none in great detail. I wouldn't recommend this title to a friend.

Still looking into the subject. This one didn't move me closer to investing on my own.

Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true. At last, Tina Fey's story can be told....

"Good Listen, Book seem to cover a number of areas."
    Overall

Enjoyable listen, especially since Tina Fey narrated her own book! She injected her own timing and vocal inflection that greatly enhanced the story she was telling at each point.

The book surprisingly seems to be more than an autobiography, at times it's pure comedy, than other times starts to feel like a Self Development aid.

My only reason for dropping this listen to 4 stars, is when she spoke about certain co-workers, it felt 'safe' and somewhat phoney. Guessing to not insult or upset mentioned persons. It's understandable but when she's let's loose on other individuals and given the track record of some the 'spared' individuals...it felt as if she was clearly holding back and complimenting beyond merit.

Overall, easy and quick listen with some definite laugh out loud moments.

  • Throw Out Fifty Things: Clear The Clutter, Find Your Life

Throw Out Fifty Things is truly an eye-opener. According to Blanke, our lives are so filled with junk from the past--from dried up tubes of crazy glue to old grudges--that's it's a wonder we can get up in the morning, never mind go to work, care for our children and parents, and just put one foot in front of the other. Blanke wants to start a movement of people across America throwing out 50 things (magazines count as one!) that will help liberate us from the stuff - both physical and mental - that clutters our lives.

    Overall

There are a host of books on how to declutter, I have a bunch myself somewhere...

So the message isn't new but the author/narrator is easy to listen to and very insightful. As she spoke, I found myself nodding my head thinking "that's me" as she described a variety of different types of clutter from room to room.

But where this book really excels and differs from previous reads is when Gail Blanke starts to address the clutter in our minds and issues we tend to hold onto, in most cases for far too long. It was enlightening to say the least.

My home office has honestly never looked better after listening to this. It's truly a great feeling to walk into it again after years of a mess and the horrible weighted down feeling I'd get from knowing it needed to be addressed but didn't know where to start.

There is soo much helpful information that I felt I had to listen to it again just to review and internalize the lessons better. Normally after listening to a book I move on to my next title. But this one is worth multiple listens.

I'm grateful to have come across this title and to the author for the genuine help this has been. It's a relatively quick and easy listen, one I'd whole heartedly recommend!

Tony Dungy's words and example have intrigued millions of people, particularly following his victory in Super Bowl XLI, the first for an African American coach. How is it possible for anyone to be successful without compromising faith and family? In this inspiring and reflective memoir, Coach Dungy tells the story of a life lived for God and family - and challenges us all to redefine our ideas of what it means to succeed.

    Overall

This was a peaceful listen! Coach Dungy has a wonderful calming voice. His message, as told through his life's unexpected turns, are easy to relate to and give the listener confidence to trust in God more.

Coach Dungy is a religous man, and usually I don't care to be preached to. But he never imposes his faith on the listener and his message is a spirtual one that supersedes any specific organized religion.

If I were a football player, I would want to play for Coach Dungy. We need more individuals in this world with Coach Dungy's character, humility and generosity. I definitely have new found respect and admiration for this man. Would love to meet him one day!

I would strongly recommend this to a friend!

    "Forces Tough Questions"
    Overall

Let's start by saying it's a valuable listen. I tend to listen to a variety of Self Development audio. Many have wonderful messages and have an uplifting feeling to them. This one forces you to look inward and ask yourself some honest and tough questions. Some of the answers are not what you want to admit to. So at times, it was a bit uncomfortable and anxiety inducing.

But truth be told, coming to terms with your weaknesses and mistakes help you start the process of moving forward. Some chapters are more valuable than others. They will vary based on where you are. I will definitely go back and relisten to a few chapters from time to time.

The author comes across as sincere, relaxed and not 'all-knowing' but someone who has experienced a great deal. I will definitely look for more from this author.

I'd recommend this to a friend!

While in Paris on business, Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon receives an urgent late-night phone call. The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, a baffling cipher found near the body. As Langdon and gifted French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu, sort through the bizarre riddle, they are stunned to discover a trail of clues hidden in the works of Da Vinci, clues visible for all to see and yet ingeniously disguised by the painter.

    "A GREAT LISTEN"
    Overall

Absolutely terrific listen, I found myself not wanting to get out of my car when I finally got to where I was going.

Don't get caught up in all the recent press and in the arguments about how factual it all is. It is clearly noted that it is a fictious thriller and superbly done at that.

Also, don't be intimadated by the Unabridged version, it goes by quickly and all the delicious details add to this weel-told story. Highly recommend!!

    Overall

I'm big admirer of Martha Stewart. Impressed by her attention to detail, her drive and ambition. Thus was really looking forward to listening to this title but came away disappointed. It started fine but soon became a PR piece for her website, her magazine, her "high quality" pieces at Kmart, her organization. After awhile it felt as if I was listening to a child spweing out how great she was/is and see, look at what I have accomplished oh and hear me pronounce all these French deserts I can make.

Her Baking Cookbook that is in stores now is excellent and it is that kind of attention to detail I was anticipating here. But what "I" got was "here at Martha Stewart Living.com we're great because..."

Sorry Martha, you came across as a boastful salesperson. I greatly admire you but not on this one.

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly 20 years ago.

    Christal says: "my favorite book"
"A Great Listen - Highly Recommend"
    Overall

This is a title everyone should listen to. It was tender and sweet. Felt like I was listening to a fond Grandparent giving out words and thoughts to live by from the heart and after years of personal living and realizing what really matters.

I listen to a great deal of "self-help" titles, lately after awhile most start to sound the same (the most recent Martha Stewart title-SKIP!!!)and I grow bored trying to stay focused. This title kept me wanting to listen more.

Strongly recommend and will listen to again myself. The narrator is easy to listen to so it's a good story even if you're not looking for "the meaning of life."
