I have read the book, and then listened to the trilogy on audio. It is huge, story with a ton of depth.
The first law trilogy by Joe Ambercrombie. Both are gritty fantasy with magical elements with a huge backdrop and deep characters.
Absolutely. The title "Eye of the Moonrat" was originally somewhat off putting to me. I'm glad I jumped into this series!
James Foster brings this novel to life. All the characters have interesting accents and dialect that suck you right into the world.
A hilarious and original take on the classic adventure. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a little fun in their adventure story. The handbook also doles out outstanding advice to all of us fledgling Dark Lords! I am now ready to come forth!
Absolutely! The Repairman Jack series is outstanding!
It is hard to find a book that compares to this. F. Paul Wilson has been accused of creating a new genre with the RJ series. "Strange/Weird Crime". or Supernatural Vigilante.
The performance was ok. The narrator was a little too old sounding for the general overall novel. He made the characters sound like they were all in their 60's.
Repairman Jack is awesome!
It is one of the top. I routinely find myself wishing I was listening to it again.
Everything. Especially the setting. You would be hard pressed to find a better executed setting than the Oasis of Ready Player One.
I started out not wanting to listen to it. I thought I didn't like it, and then I kept coming back to find out what happened next. Eventually I couldn't stop listening. I took a road trip just to finish it off.
It is near the top. I really enjoyed it.
S**t Load's attack M.O. I was listening in my car and almost wrecked. I was laughing so hard, I couldn't see.
John is by far the best character.
John dies at the end.
Jay Snyder. He really enjoys demonstrating how quickly he can read the written word. Khristine Hvam does a fine job with her performance, but cannot save this audio book from the nearly incomprehensible pace of Jay Snyder's narrative.
The story is actually quite fun, and actually a good time.
I will be very hesitant to try another audio book with Jay Snyder narrating. It would have to be a book I am very excited to listen to.
Me. Playing every role. I am the only person awesome enough to play any of these characters.
Pretty close to the top.
Harbinger, because he's Harbinger.
He is an excellent narrator. Everything comes to life.
Rich, Detailed, Addictive
Steven Pacey makes every character come to life with his narration. He is well on par, and perhaps surpasses that of Roy Dotrice's Game of Thrones performances.
This story is excellent, and worth a listen. The characters are engrossing, rich, and very well imagines. The story is highly encompassing, and I found myself sucked in. I listened to the entire series in less than a week. I highly encourage any fan of fantasy to listen to the entire series. If nothing else but for Steven Pacey's performance.
