Husband-and-wife team Sam and Remi Fargo are intrigued when an archaeologist friend requests their help excavating a top secret historical site. What they find will set them on a hunt for a prize greater than they could ever imagine. The clues point to the hidden tomb of Attila the Hun, the High King who was reportedly buried with a vast fortune of gold and jewels and plunder....a bounty that has never been found. As they follow the trail, the Fargos will find themselves pitted against a thieving group of treasure hunters.

Would you listen to The Tombs again? Why?

Yes, the story is interesting in a historical and adventure sense. The characters are as with most of Cussler's characters are well defined and developed in a way that pulls you into the story even if you are not normally an adventure book series person.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Tombs?

The fighting scene in which the Fargos are using cannon balls to fight off snipers. The way the Fargos ecape the main bad guys home on horseback after using flour to cause a flash over explosion to set the kitchen on fire.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, in fact while at working doing the stocking at night my co-workers would give me funny looks because of my random outburst of laughter related to the story. I loved having the story going thru headphones as I worked through the long hours in the very early morning

For nearly 2,000 years, only one Druid has walked the Earth - Atticus O’Sullivan, the Iron Druid, whose sharp wit and sharp sword have kept him alive as he’s been pursued by a pantheon of hostile deities. Now he’s got company. Atticus’ apprentice, Granuaile, is at last a full Druid herself. What’s more, Atticus has defrosted an archdruid long ago frozen in time, a father figure (of sorts) who now goes by the modern equivalent of his old Irish name: Owen Kennedy. And Owen has some catching up to do.

I have enjoyed The Iron Druid Chronicles book series from the beginning but this book was not as good as some of the rest. The storyline was a little to sporadic in nature and too condensed in other matters. But overall, I enjoyed this book and the narrator was awesome narrating each and every character but especially Oberon. I look forward to the next installment of this series and hopefully a lot to come. But if you like fantasy check out The Iron Druid Chronicles you won't be disappointed.

I used to murder people for money, but lately it’s become more of a survival technique. Once an assassin, always an assassin. So much for being plain old Gin Blanco. With every lowlife in Ashland gunning for me, I don’t need another problem, but a new one has come to town anyway. Salina might seem like a sweet Southern belle, but she’s really a dangerous enemy whose water elemental magic can go head-to-head with my own Ice and Stone power.

Gin has been a great character to get to know over the last six books along with her family and friends. So when the past starts to threaten not only her relationship with her lover but threatens the life of her friends and families. Even though Gin tried to take the high road and not want to continue with her assassin ways, some people just need killed and if she can prevent her lover's sister from going out and trying to kill or hire someone else to kill she will just have to do it herself even if Owen doesn't want her to. Thus begins the tale of the someone else's past coming back to bite you in the ass. I enjoyed both the storyline and the easy listening of the narration by Lauren. I will continue to listen to this series as it continues because despite having a general theme of Gin trying to change her ways and Gin getting sucked back into the assassin lifestyle these books are not only entertaining but enjoyable breaks from reality and thus just what the everybody needs now and again.

Well when we last heard from Nick he escaped death for like the millionth time and he awakes to an environment which looks like home but is that Bubba married to his mom. So as the story begins in this book Nick starts in out in reality where any normal kid would be happy and since Nick has always wanted to be normal he should be happy with this life. Alas too much has changed and some of the changes are way to different for Nick to take so he begins to look for a way out and by the way he is now powerless. Now I have your attention don't I...
This is another great installment in the Chronicles of Nick storyline. I am currently reading Dark Hunter series as these books come out and I am loving the new take on Nick and his future. I look forward to each new installment and this one didn't dissatisfy. If you like young adult fantasy or just straight fantasy then you will enjoy the chronicles of Nick and if you can deal with some romance in your fantasy action books you will like Kenyon's Dark Hunter series as well.
Hope you enjoy your next reading/listening adventure

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

Hmm, where to start as they say. So the beginning it is. Divergent was an enjoyable and entertaining audiobook in which I quite enjoyed. Trice is a character you start to root for from the moment the story begins. The world, or at least Chicago, is divided into factions and each faction as it own trait and when you turn sixteen you have to choose to stay in your faction or move to another faction, thus leaving your family for the rest of your life, because its faction before blood. But something goes wrong when Trice enters the aptitude test and she hears the word divergent for the first but last time. As the story progresses we get a glimpse of some of the differences in the factions and how they are living by meeting the "transfers" to Dauntless, the crazy and warlike, faction. Trice can see she fits in here but she could also be happy elsewhere, thus she is a divergent, and she is starting to think her instructor, and soon-to-be boyfriend, may be one to. But what is a divergent and why is everyone so secretive about it.
    Now jumping to the end...
Trice has just completed her initiation and is given one final injection to become a member in Dauntless. It's a new injection, a tracker, just provided to Dauntless by another faction, Erudite-which has been stirring discontent against her old faction (Abnegation) and her father as a leader, to help Dauntless in case a member goes missing which according to one of the Dauntless leader, Eric, rarely happens any ways. But that night Trice awakes to watch her friends, boyfriend, and other faction members turn into walking robots who attack her former faction. But Trice and Four (Tibas) are divergent so they are immune to the mind controlling transmitters that were just injected into all of the members of Dauntless. So begins the battle for the future...
The writing was great and the character development was wonderful, even to for characters that die before the end of the book. As I was listening to this book I wanted to compare it to Hunger Games, but even though they are same genre that is really for me where the sameness ends. I look forward to the next book of the series and have my fingers crossed the greatness continues.

    Story

As a whole this series has been a great group of books to listen to, not to serious, but yet not to fluffy either. This chapter begins with Gin going on vacation because on the up comers in Ashland want to make their name by killing The Spider, but instead they just keep dying. Gin takes Bria with her and they meet up with Callie (Bria's BFF) and found out a local power player is pushing in on her and in fact is putting Callie in danger. As Bria and Gin watch a few of the power player (who happens to be a powerful vampire) threaten Callie. Gin is going to help with her "Spider" skills as only The Spider can but in walks Det. Donavan Caine with his looks and smell but also with his accusing gaze and words. Thus, begins the story and action of By a Thread. By a Thread, for me, was a quick enjoyable listen in which Jennifer Estep was able to tie up loose ends in the relationship between Gin and Donavan. Gin's shutting down of Donavan at the end of the story allows Estep the ability to progress the relationship between not only Gin and Owen but Gin and Bria because Gin lays it all out in the open when she talks with both Donavan and Bria at the end of the story. I did find a sense "WHAT" when listening to the first encounter Gin has with the vampire and how she just walks in to a trap that had to be shocking her "spidey" sense. But as always she quickly uses her wits and comes out beaten and weak but ready for revenge. If you enjoy easy listening or reading books and enjoy urban fantasy with a little to no romance sex scenes then you should enjoy listening/reading By a Thread.

Killing used to be my regular gig, after all. Gin Blanco, aka the Spider, assassin-for-hire. And I was very, very good at it. Now, I'm ready to make the one hit that truly matters: Mab Monroe, the dangerous Fire elemental who murdered my family when I was 13. Oh, I don't think the mission will be easy, but turns out it's a bit more problematic than expected. The bitch knows I'm coming for her. So now I'm up against the army of lethal bounty hunters Mab hired to track me down. She also put a price on my baby sister's head. Keeping Bria safe is my first priority.

What did you love best about Spider's Revenge?

The best part of this book is that it completes a story arc that was starting to get old and frustrating. The killing of the fire elemental who killed her family hopefully will allow the rest of the characters and Gin to move forward.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gin is a badass with the beginnings of feeling starting to reemerge with the finding of her sister and a new love. My favorite line from the book is, " bring it on bitch, I'm the spider."

Have you listened to any of Lauren Fortgang’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Lauren makes the characters come to life but keeps them separate by using her voice to her' sand the reader's advantage.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The final battle between Mab and Gin was intense but the dream state after with Gin talking with her mentor the "Tin-Man" who is also Flynn's dad who died in the first book. Even though it brought some answers it also brought some more questions too.

    Any additional comments?

If you enjoy Urban fantasy you should enjoy this book and the rest in the series.

If you could sum up Tangled Threads in three words, what would they be?

    Shocking, Exposing, and Dangerous

Who was your favorite character and why?

Gin-not just because she is the main character but because I wish I could be a little like her sometimes, well except the killing part. She is just so comfortable in her skin and what she is, what she has done, and the reasons behind all her decisions. But of course, being a playboy like Flynn could have been fun before the wife and kids. HaHaHa

What does Lauren Fortgang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Lauren's voice is easy listening but still brings the story to life. She does a great job of moderating her voice for each character making it easy to follow who is speaking even if you may have missed it in the beginning of the paragraph or speech.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, in fact I listened to this book in two separate long drives and it kept me alert and interested the whole 10+ hours. If you are going on a long trip or have a couple long drives ahead of you and you like urban fantasy I would grab one of these books and listen all four have been great.

Where does Venom rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This book is among the top 10% the narration and tempo were great.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Venom?

The moment when Gin finds out that her baby sister is a detective on the Ashland police force and how this will change her life. Then at the end of the book he has to forget that her sister will start hunting her when she takes claim to a killing of a minion of the Fire elemental who not only scared her hands but killed her family. But revenge is more important at the time than trying to mend fences with her sister especially since her sister doesn't know Gin is her sister or that she is the Spider.

Have you listened to any of Lauren Fortgang’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listen to the first two books of this series and continue to listen to this series not only because of the storyline but because Lauren's narration is naturally flowing that the story just comes alive and the characters become interesting and worth the time to invest interest in.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Can she find love, revenge, and family or is Gin going to have to kill to get one or all.
