Two years ago, Eva Khatchadourian's son, Kevin, murdered seven high-school students, a cafeteria worker, and an algebra teacher. Because he was only 15 at the time, he received a lenient sentence and is now in a prison for young offenders. Telling the story of Kevin's upbringing, Eva addresses herself to her estranged husband through a series of letters. Fearing that her own shortcomings may have shaped what her son has become, she confesses to a long-standing ambivalence. How much is her fault?

I started listening and was expecting something totally different. Once I adjusted I became totally enthralled. Lionel is a fabulous writer with so much insight and has the gift to portray deep feelings and subjects. This book has a shattering ending, so isn't for everyone. If anyone has a "different" child that can't seem to love and attach deeply, I don't know if this will be a good listen for you or too painful.

I have found a new favorite author. Unfortunately, I have to wait more. A great beach book. As good as Patterson used to be.

Only minutes after Abbie Elliot and her three best friends step off of a private helicopter, they enter the most luxurious, sumptuous, sensually pampering hotel they have ever been to. Their lavish presidential suite overlooks Monte Carlo, and they surrender: to the sun and pool, to the sashimi and sake, to the Bruno Paillard champagne. In the morning's harsh light, Abbie awakens on a yacht, surrounded by police. Something awful has happened - something impossible, unthinkable. Abbie, Winnie, Serena, and Bryah are arrested and accused of the foulest crime imaginable.

What is James Patterson thinking?...Is he even reading what this co-author wrote.....Drivel, is a word that comes to mind! I have always been a big fan of Patterson's entertaining, fast paced novels, now I will be more careful. Why do some top authors seem to sell out and release inferior work after the first three or four hits?

Checker Secretti is the most gifted and original drummer that the club-goers of Astoria, Queens, have ever heard. When he plays, conundrums seem to solve themselves, brilliant thoughts spring to mind, and couples fall in love. The members of his band, The Derailleurs, are passionately devoted to their guiding spirit, as are all who fall under Checker's spell. But when another drummer, Eaton Striker, hears the prodigy play, he is pulled inexorably into Checker's orbit by a powerful combination of envy and admiration.

All is not well in Margrave, Georgia. The sleepy, forgotten town hasn't seen a crime in decades, but within the span of three days it witnesses events that leave everyone stunned. An unidentified man is found beaten and shot to death on a lonely country road.

Good. I liked the characters, maybe a bit too long at end, but you will still want to finish

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

A wonderful and refreshing book. The pace was perfect and I felt I was a part of it and didn't want it to end. This is rare for me. A gift of a book

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

Lora says: "Enzo (because he's so wize) for president."

I didn't think I would like this book, but bought it because of the reviews. I did love it. Some people thought it was sad, but I didn't get that feeling. It was about love and loyalty, with a twist in the plot. Give it a try. This is my first review and I wrote it because I always read the reviews of others.
