Devastated by the discovery that his wife, Helen, was murdered, Special Agent Pendergast must have retribution. But revenge is not simple. As he stalks his wife's betrayers-a chase that takes him from the wild moors of Scotland to the bustling streets of New York City and the darkest bayous of Louisiana - he is also forced to dig further into Helen's past. And he is stunned to learn that Helen may have been a collaborator in her own murder.

I hate an ending where nothing is resolved. This should have been titled "Part 1". Better than the last 2 Pendergast stories. Frustrated that I will now have to wait probably 8 months to read the rest of this story.

Music has set the tone for most of Zoe Baxter’s life. And it’s music that brings her back to love. When fertility issues lead to a divorce, Zoe throws herself into her career as a music therapist. As an unexpected friendship with a woman slowly blossoms into love, she makes plans for a new life, but to her shock and inevitable rage, some people - even those she loves and trusts most - don’t want that to happen.

CDN says: "A Good Listen (except the music)"
"Authors should author and let musicians make music"
    Overall

The story is a 5 as usual with Jodi, but the songs are a distraction. Whoever wrote the music put emphasis on prepositions and took liberties no songwriter can get away with. Just keep your fast forward button handy amd you will enjoy this one.

Behind the well-known U.S. security organizations - the FBI and CIA among them - lies a heavily guarded, anonymous government agency dedicated to intelligence surveillance and to a highly specialized brand of citizen protection. Shock waves of alarm ripple through the clandestine agency when Washington, D.C., police detective Ryan Kessler inexplicably becomes the target of Henry Loving, a seasoned, ruthless “lifter” hired to obtain information using whatever means necessary.

Ramon says: "Thrilling book with reasonable narrator"
"5 star story, 1 star narrator"
    Overall

I go through 3 audio books a week while driving. Jeffery Deaver is one of my favorite authors and I purchased Edge immediatly upon seeing it. It was only the strength of the story that kept me from giving up. The narrator, lets call him a reader as narrator would be decieving, had no emotion whatsoever. The guy at the end who says "we hope you have enjoyed the program" did 4 times the job. I'm guessing this must be a family friend of the producer, as I can't believe Mr. Deaver would treat his faithful readers so badly as to have approved this recording in advance. Go with the hard copy on this one, as the story is one of his best.

his most powerful and intricately-plotted novel yet. Thirteen year-old Johnny Merrimon had the perfect life: happy parents and a twin sister that meant the world to him. But Alyssa went missing a year ago, stolen off the side of a lonely street with only one witness to the crime. His family shattered, his sister presumed dead, Johnny risks everything to explore the dark side of his hometown in a last, desperate search.

    Christine says: "Stick With It!"
"Ruined by a normally good narrator"
    Overall

A four star story corrupted by a narrator who decided to pronounce the articles "a" and "the", "aay" and "thee". Bad enough he did it while narrating in the third person, but when he used it while portraying someone speaking in native back country Carolina dialect, it was too much. It was so annoying I had to take the story in spurts. He slipped at times and pronounced "the" correctly and just as I started to get lost in the story he would come back with something like "aay cat jumped from thee wall onto thee floor". It was like listening to a first grader read see spot run. The article "a" is pronounced "uh". The word "decide" is pronounced "dehcide", not "deecide". It was worse than saying "nucular" instead of nuclear. It was so blatantly forced that I can't help but wonder if he was made to do it, as I have listed to other narrations by Scott Sowers and enjoyed them very much. This is a very good story and a very good author, but I would recommend the hard copy over this childish attempt at literacy.
