I was a little weary as this was a young adult novel. I decided to try it as it was on sale for a good price. It drew me right into the story, not childish at all! It was so engrossing that when I finished I downloaded the second book at full price just to find out what happened next! Absolutely a book adults can enjoy. The reader did a great job also!

I actually paid for this book as I couldn't wait for credits! At first I could not get into the story. Usually I am doing other things while I listen and found that I really needed to pay attention to the story to understand the magic system and the different characters. Once I did this I completely enjoyed this book! It is very different than The Night Angel Trilogy (awesome series) which shows the talent of Brent Weeks. I love the characters realism showing both light and darkness even in heroes. Kip has great potential, love the fact that he seems underrated (chubby,full of self doubt,a bastard) but keeps pulling off great feats and then is confused about how he did it or thinking he did poorly. My biggest complaint is now I have to wait for the next book!

Be prepared for lot's of smiles, laughs and tears. I think this is the best book I have ever listened to!
Mr Wilson captured the voice of the dog wonderfully and the author W. Cameron has a true gift to write a story that can run the full range of emotions that this story brings out. If you listen while you are driving beware that some people may look at you a little strangely when tears are running down you face.

I read this book when it first came out, I have been patiently waiting for the next book to come out. I decided to listen to the audio version to refresh my memory for the next book. I was not disappointed, the reader did a great job bringing the story to life. The only part that made me cringe was when he did the voice of the sick kid saying what, what....I had to mute through that. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story. An excellent writer!!
