Within the pages of very rare books, some centuries old, lie the secrets of the paranormal. Abby Radwell’s unusual psychic talent has made her an expert in such volumes - and sometimes taken her into dangerous territory. After a deadly incident in the private library of an obsessive collector, Abby receives a blackmail threat, and rumors swirl that an old alchemical text known as The Key has reappeared on the black market.

On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a woman lies dead at the bottom of a brownstone’s basement steps, stripped of all her valuables. Most cops might call it a mugging gone wrong, but Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows better. A well-off accountant and a beloved wife and mother, Marta Dickenson doesn’t seem the type to be on anyone’s hit list. But when Eve and her partner, Peabody, find blood inside the brownstone, she knows Marta’s murder is the work of a killer who’s trained, yet not professional or smart enough to remove all the evidence.

Way up there. I look forward to each new book.

What didn’t you like about Susan Ericksen’s performance?

The audio was off. Sounded tinny. Susan Ericksen is great but the recording was very poor.

    no

    Any additional comments?

This needs to be rerecorded. Don't use the sound engineer again who recorded this book.

It was just another after-work happy-hour bar downtown, where business professionals unwound with a few drinks, complained about the boss, maybe hooked up with someone for the night. Until something went terribly wrong. At first it was just a friction in the air. The noise intensified. The crowd seemed oppressive. Some sharp words were exchanged, some pushing and shoving. Then the madness descended. And after 12 minutes of chaos and violence, 80 people lay dead.

When Elliott Cruz first courted struggling single mom Karen Ames, it was a romance worthy of any Sweet Magnolia fantasy. The sexy personal trainer made it his mission to restore Karen’s strength - physical and emotional - and to charm her children. Now, a few years into the marriage, colliding dreams threaten to tear them apart. Elliott’s desire to finance the business opportunity of a lifetime with their hard-earned “baby money” stirs Karen’s deep-rooted financial insecurities.

What made the experience of listening to Midnight Promises the most enjoyable?

I love this narrator. The narrator can make or break an audiobook and this one does not use a fake southern accent. It was good to hear more about Elliott and Karen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Midnight Promises?

Elliotts family and his struggle to break away from old family traditions and expectations

What does Janet Metzger bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

All the characters are unique and real. A prior narrator made Mattie sound harsh and unapproachable. She's the character I like updates on the most.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    no.

    Any additional comments?

The ending was not believable. After spending the entire book on Karen's worry about money, it wasn't believable that she would go gambling in Vegas.

What did you like best about this story?

Devoted fans of Leila Meacham will devour this long, juicy audiobook. Tumbleweeds is the story of three young friends - the saint, the sinner, and the angel - growing up together in the sort of small Texas Panhandle town that lives and dies by its Friday night football games. A fateful event casts a long shadow over these three intertwined lives and leaves the listener desperate to see how it all plays out.

Unrequited love. Destruction by friends of friends. Small minded community. Stiff language.

What do you think your next listen will be?

What didn’t you like about Angele Masters’s performance?

All characters sounded the same. Accent. Lack of emotion.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I really wanted to like this book. I kept reading with the hope it would have a redeeming value. Didn't happen.

What would make the perfect man? That's the deliciously racy topic that Jaine Bright and her three girlfriends are pondering one night at their favorite after-hours hot spot: Mr. Perfect. Would he be tall, dark, and handsome? Caring and warmhearted - or will just muscular do? As their conversation heats up, they concoct a tongue-in-cheek checklist that becomes an overnight sensation, spreading like wildfire at work and sizzling along email lines. But what began as a joke among friends turns deadly serious when one of the four women is murdered....

Would you listen to Mr. Perfect again? Why?

I read this book a number of years ago and laughed my head off. It was available on tape but not CD and I've continued to watch for the CD or download and now its here. Once again I laughed out load. I found the narrator took a while to get used to but that was the only down side. Some of the references in the book are dated as you would expect from a re-issue but I still loved it!

What did you like best about this story?

The antics and smart mouth of the main character.

Would you be willing to try another one of Laura Hicks’s performances?

    Rather not
