Attorney Caine MacGregor had a reputation for being a demon in and out of the courtroom. The dashing young attorney rarely met a case - or a woman - he couldn't win. But Diana Blade was no ordinary lady. Caine yearned to break down her icy wall of control and release the passionate woman within. He might be able to convince Diana to form a business partnership, but could he entice her to risk everything for the love of a MacGregor?

What did you love best about Tempting Fate?

The ongoing characters in the family MacGregor

What was one of the most memorable moments of Tempting Fate?

Being snowed in and stuck in a hotel that typically rents rooms by the hour

Did Angela Dawe do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes. She lowered her voice for the male characters, added a brogue for Daniel. She softened her voice for Anna and raised it for Rena.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    No. Nice simple romance.

    Any additional comments?

This series holds up 30 yrs after first publication. The characters smoking cigarettes dates the series but other than that it could be written today.

What did you love best about Playing the Odds?

I loved the introduction to the MacGregor family. I read this many years ago and wanted to hear it with the characters performed. I look forward to to other books in the series.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Playing the Odds?

When Blade discovered that Daniel had set him up with the cruise.

Did Angela Dawe do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes. She did a passible job with the male voices and accents. There is something about her inflections that I don't really care for at the end of sentences but while she is not my favorite narrator she is far superior to others.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

For four of the best summers of his young life, Luke Harris was in love with Sydney Donovan, a wealthy seasonal visitor to Gansett Island. Then Sydney went off to college and never came back. She married another man and had two children while Luke remained on the island, working at McCarthy's Gansett Marina and wondering what had gone wrong between him and the only woman he ever loved. Fifteen months after Sydney suffers the tragic loss of her husband and children, she's returned to Gansett to figure out what's next, and that may very well be a rekindled love affair with the one man from her past she’s never forgotten.

What did you like best about Ready for Love? What did you like least?

I enjoyed Luke and Sydney's history and present. It also was entertaining getting updates on the other characters. I do not care for the narrator who reads instead of performing the story. Monotone delivery.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ready for Love?

When Big Mac & Luke were injured.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Flat delivery. No real difference in characters.

Joe Cantrell, owner of the Gansett Island Ferry Company, has been in love with Janey McCarthy for as long as he can remember. At the same time, Janey has been dating or engaged to doctor-in-training David Lawrence. When things go horribly wrong between David and Janey, she calls her "fifth brother" Joe, one of the few people in her close circle who lives on the mainland. Janey decides a few days with Joe is just what she needs before she goes home to the island to face her parents and family with the news of her broken engagement.

What made the experience of listening to Fool for Love the most enjoyable?

I love a love story and a series that allows you to get to know a number of the characters.

What did you like best about this story?

The challenges and events the main characters dealt with and updates on other characters.

What didn’t you like about Holly Fielding’s performance?

Lacks emotion and she does not differentiate the characters. She simply reads aloud. A disaster might be happening but you wouldn't know from the narrators voice.

If you could rename Fool for Love, what would you call it?

    I wouldn't rename.

    Any additional comments?

It is the story spun by Marie Force that brings me back to the series. I do wish she would choose a different narrator.

Maddie Chester is determined to leave her hometown of Gansett Island, a place that has brought her only bad memories and ugly rumors. Then she’s knocked off her bike on the way to her housekeeping job at McCarthy’s Resort Hotel by Gansett’s "favorite son", Mac McCarthy. He’s back in town to help his father with preparations to sell the family resort and has no intention of staying long. Would you consider the audio edition of Maid for Love to be better than the print version?

On the fence about this. I rarely read print books any more since I can "read" an audiobook while exercising, driving or relaxing. I did not care for the narrator who put no emotion or performance in her execution nor she differentiate the characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

    Both Maddy and Mac

How could the performance have been better?

    Different narrator

If you could take any character from Maid for Love out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Big Mac. He came across as such a kind, loving person.

    Any additional comments?

I love series and will listen to more in this one but I wish there was a different narrator.

Rachel Scott seems to offend and even hurt the O’Neils with her coverage of them. When Dylan exposes her irresponsible journalism in one of his popular columns for a local magazine, Rachel is furious and accuses him of bias and vindictiveness. Forced by the heads of both news agencies to resolve their differences, Dylan sees another side to Rachel, one with more warmth and depth than she displays to the world. And she finds him to be a caring man who safeguards those he loves.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

What do you think your next listen will be?

The final book in the series.

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?

    Bailey

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

It was good to hear more about the other characters in the series. In addition it shows a family that loves and supports each other even when they disagree.

    Any additional comments?

The series introduced Rachel as a self serving reporter without ethics who endangered others to get a story and climb the success ladder. This book glosses over this and wants the reader to believe that she was misunderstood and a victim of her family belittling her.
