I rarely write reviews, but this book speaks to the reader on multiple levels. A glimpse of the history, an examination of what we call friendship and the stories of many women in the early 60's. All told with a wonderful sense of humor and truth.
A solid read.
I enjoyed the main character Hugh because he was a hard worker and conscientious about his responsibilities toward others.
A tale of triumph and tragedy skillfully told in the style of bygone years. If you enjoy classics, you'll want to listen. A bit long winded in several areas. Deronda appeals to the reader.
