James Allen was one of the leaders of the New Thought school, which emphasized the power of positive thinking to improve one's life. He wrote many inspirational and thought-provoking books that have been enjoyed by millions and continue to be popluar today. This is his most famous work and is now considered a classic of self-help literture.

I have heard many reviews regarding this book from many motivational speakers. This book however just did not have a great impact on me. Not sure why, I did find the content a little boring and the speaker failed to make this an interesting read for me.

"Sweet spot". Golfers understand the term. So do tennis players. Ever swung a baseball bat or paddled a Ping-Pong ball? If so, you know the oh-so-nice feel of the sweet spot. Life in the sweet spot rolls like the downhill side of a downwind bike ride. But you don't have to swing a bat or a club to know this. What engineers give sports equipment, God gave you. A zone, a region, a life precinct in which you were made to dwell.

Lucado is an excellent writer and he does it again with this book. Always has great example and always entertaining. His research and depth in Christ is fantastic. I plan to listen to many, many more Lucado books.

Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare.

"Not sure how to take this book"

I always wondered what a liberal view of God may be like and this is definitely it. I stopped listening half way through as her points and thoughts seem conflicted with her reality of God. I do not recommend this book.

Stephen R. Covey's book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has been a top seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity. Celebrating its 15th year of helping people solve personal and professional problems, this special anniversary edition includes a new forward and afterword written by Covey that explore whether the 7 Habits are still relevant.

    Overall

I have heard over and over again about how great this book is and yet i found myself drifting off and finding it hard to stay on track with this book. This book could have been completed in half the time, if he would have just gotten to the point. Also, very few concrete examples and references to his topics of discussion. Their are much better books out their on the same subject.
