    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 1 min)
    • By Patricia Briggs
    • Narrated By Lorelei King
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Mercy Thompson's life has undergone a seismic change. Becoming the mate of Adam Hauptman - the charismatic Alpha of the local werewolf pack - has made her a stepmother to his daughter, Jesse, a relationship that brings moments of blissful normalcy to Mercy's life. But on the edges of humanity, what passes for a minor mishap on an ordinary day can turn into so much more.... After an accident in bumper-to-bumper traffic, Mercy and Jesse can't reach Adam - or anyone else in the pack for that matter. They've all been abducted.....

ShySusan says: "One of the best urban fantasy series"
    "Excellent story line."
Where does Frost Burned rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love the entire Mercy Thompson series and this latest installment wasn't a let down. Nice plot, good pace and enjoyment that the story was able to involve, to some extent, all the old characters from previous books. If you enjoy the series this one will continue to please.

  • The Player

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By J.R. Ward
    • Narrated By Emily Beresford
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Ruthless might as well be Gray Bennett’s middle name. When the renowned Washington, D.C. insider talks, powerful people listen. But Gray hasn’t come home to Saranac Lake to play politics. Or play at all. A tragedy has shaken the unshakable Gray Bennett to his hardened core. And so has the most unlikely of women. The mousy redhead who used to run around the Moorehouse B and B - the one he never noticed - is now all fiery hair and lush curves. But sweet Joy Moorehouse is too innocent for a cynic like him.

    Mary says: "DO NOT ORDER"
    "Truly mediocre"
What disappointed you about The Player?

Basically the main characters's behavior seemed implausible.

Would you be willing to try another one of Emily Beresford’s performances?

I don't think so. I wasn't very impressed with the narration. Can't put my finger on it. Just wasn't very good.

  • Lakeshore Christmas

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 45 mins)
    • By Susan Wiggs
    • Narrated By Joyce Bean

The prim librarian is finally getting her chance to direct Avalon's annual holiday pageant, and she's determined to make it truly spectacular. But it might just require one of those Christmas miracles she's always read about. The problem is her codirector is recovering former child star Eddie Haven, a long-haired, tattooed lump of coal in Maureen's pageant stocking. Eddie can't stand Christmas, but a court order from a judge has landed him right in the middle of the merrymaking.

    Jane says: "Christmas-in Wiggs Style"
    "Slow moving"
Would you try another book from Susan Wiggs and/or Joyce Bean?

not sure if I would try another book by Susan Wiggs. When I read the synopsis it seemed interesting, but the listening was hard. It just moved along so slowly. I had to force myself to continue, but in the end I couldn't finish it.

  • Tall, Dark, and Dead

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 57 mins)
    • By Tate Hallaway
    • Narrated By Amanda Ronconi
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Recovering witch Garnet Lacey owns Wisconsin's premier occult bookstore. And a fringe benefit of the job is getting customers like Sebastian Von Traum - piercing brown eyes, a sexy accent, and a killer body. The only thing missing is an aura. Which means he's dead. And that means trouble - something Garnet's a sucker for....

    lindag319 says: "Technical difficulties?"
    "Funny and enjoyable light listen"
What did you love best about Tall, Dark, and Dead?

Good story. Enjoyed the characters, the storyline and the humor. It's not a laugh out loud humor, but a more subtle makes you smile. I enjoy the way the author adds levity to various situations in the story.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love Amanda Ronconi's narrations. She is great at distinguishing the characters voices and good with accents. That's very important to me. If the narration is bad, then I sometimes have to stop listening to the book. NEVER the situation with an Amanda Ronconi narration. She always does an excellent job!

    Any additional comments?

If you like light, paranormal romances, you'll enjoy this book.

  • Seduction and Snacks

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs)
    • By Tara Sivec
    • Narrated By Romy Nordlinger
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Claire is a 20-something, single mom who grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he's asleep) toddler a better life. When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time. With Carter's undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire's panic that her stretch marks and slim-to-none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after.

    Angela says: "Very Good"
"Big let down! Poor narration & worse dialogue."
What was most disappointing about Tara Sivec’s story?

Her limited vocabulary. It seemed that EVERY OTHER word was "Fuck", "Vagina" or "Dick/Penis". The actual story line was good and I was interested in it, but if felt like the author went overboard with the explicit words. In my opinion it was unecessary and took away from the story. I won' be reading any of her other books because of it.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Th narrator did a horrible job. Voice distinction was poor. It was hard to tell when the different characters were talking and made it confusing at times. Aside from that for the first couple of hours is sounded as if she was just reading the story. Her delivery was flat and there were times that funny things were said or thought and it took me a minute to realize it becuase of her narration.

  • You Slay Me: Aisling Grey, Guardian, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Katie MacAlister
    • Narrated By Barbara Rosenblat

You Slay Me is a lusty romance novel with amusing supernatural undercurrents. When courier Aisling Grey is dispatched to Paris to deliver a priceless dragon statue to a rich and eccentric female collector, she finds the intended recipient the apparent victim of a demonic ritual. And that's just the beginning of Aisling's discoveries.

    E. Moore says: "You Slay Me, With Dry Mouth"
    "Good story; bad narrator"
What did you like best about You Slay Me? What did you like least?

I enjoyed the actual story line, but HATED the narrator. She had a habit of swallowing audibly after each sentence or so. It was very distracting adn annoying. If I continue with the series, it will be read it. I can't torture myself by listening to another one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jim the demon / dog was my favorite character becuase he was the comic relief.

What didn’t you like about Barbara Rosenblat’s performance?

    Not much.

  • Halfway to the Grave: Night Huntress, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 17 mins)
    • By Jeaniene Frost
    • Narrated By Tavia Gilbert
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother's life. Then she's captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unlikely partnership. In exchange for help finding her father, Cat agrees to train with the sexy night stalker until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. She's amazed she doesn't end up as his dinner…are there actually good vampires?

Stephenie says: "Great series. Worth every credit."
    "Excellent paranormal romance"

I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to continue the series. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that it really took me a long time to get used the to narrator's voice for the leading man. So much so that I considered not continuing with the story. But about a few hours into it I was able to get accustomed to it and the story line had me hooked so I had to continue regardless. I really enjoyed the author's take on the do's and don'ts of vampires. I highly recommned this book.
