This book is part memoir, part philosophical text, part study in human behavior, from one of America's greatest literary treasures. Narrated masterfully by Bronson Pinchot, this audiobook also includes Twain’s popular short story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County".

Avid Reader and Listener says: "Good stuff!"

    Overall

The book is, as expected, wonderful - humor, drama, pathos. The narration is very well done. I had the opportunity to see Hal Holbrook during his one man show of Twain and didn't think anyone could approach his portrayal of Twain with his drawling twang. However, the narrator enhances the book, you are drawn into Twain's world. Highly recommended.

Jaclyn Wilde is a wedding planner who loves her job—usually. But helping Carrie Edwards with her Big Day has been an unrelenting nightmare. Carrie is a bridezilla of mythic nastiness, a diva whose tantrums are just about as crazy as her demands. But the unpleasant task at hand turns seriously criminal when Carrie is brutally murdered and everyone involved with the ceremony is accusing one another of doing the deed.

Too bad I'm married - I now know how to plan several types of weddings and how to keep a bride happy. Too bad Linda Howard, whom I normally read or listen to with great enjoyment, didn't keep this in the 1990's box it came from. The plot could have been funny - but sex with a virtual stranger, from two supposedly rational human beings living in the modern age? Yelling, pouting, huffing?

I live in the south, I know southern women. I've taught kindergarten. The narrator, Clarinda Ross, spoke as if she was talking to developmentally delayed southern kindergartners. I will watch for her name as the narrator and avoid her like the plague.

Hopefully, Howard, will log onto her computer and pull up a file marked 2010 for her next book!
