Kate Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city - a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent - but he's one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music.

Would you listen to The First Horseman again? Why?

No, I couldn't finish the audiobook.

If you’ve listened to books by D. K. Wilson before, how does this one compare?

    I haven't

Would you be willing to try another one of David Thorpe’s performances?

perhaps. Certainly not another Thomas Treviot novel

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    no

    Any additional comments?

the story itself was a good one. I just hated the narrator. I recommend reading the book instead of listening

Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map - the key to a legendary treasure trove - 17-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship. More than a match for the ruthless pirate crew, Alosa has only one thing standing between her and the map: her captor, the unexpectedly clever and unfairly attractive first mate Riden. But not to worry, for Alosa has a few tricks up her sleeve, and no lone pirate can stop the Daughter of the Pirate King.

This was a super quick read. I was really excited to read this, because my favorite house from Game of Thrones is House Greyjoy! This is a typical YA action book that has far more Romance than I expected. I enjoyed it enough to want to read the next book in the series. So why did I rate this so low? The plot really only started to take shape when I read about 60% of the book. I was able to finish it in one sitting. The narrator fit really well. If you like a quick read, and pirates, I'd highly recommend this.

The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule the world. To commemorate their Great Victory over Britain and Russia, Hitler and Emperor Hirohito host the Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents. The victor is awarded an audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor's ball.

Would you try another book from Ryan Graudin and/or Christa Lewis?

I would buy another book by Ryan! I would also buy another book from Christa Lewis. I just didn't particularly care for her mispronunciation/accent of the Japanese characters

What other book might you compare Wolf by Wolf to and why?

I'd compare it to the Book Thief. It also takes place during a similar time period, and the setting is sort of the same.

What didn’t you like about Christa Lewis’s performance?

As previously mentioned, She had a lot of Mispronunciations of Japanese names, and I found her accent for those characters kind of offensive to be honest

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

Overall, This book is wonderful! I just think that the Narrator should have been instructed on how to properly pronounce main character names,
