This book felt like it dragged on, but every now and then something would happen and I would keep it going. I almost gave up on it a few times, and I wouldn't have missed much. Keating is a good narrator but not a good reader. I often found myself confused and wondering which character was talking, since all of the voices sounded exactly the same. Also, after wading through meaningless details about things like what a particular room looked like, the main character (as another review pointed out) figures the entire thing out all at once.

I normally don't like female readers as much, but this one is pretty awesome. This book flew by so fast and I didn't want it to end. They did a very good job of not exposing too much of the story at a time and kept me guessing throughout. There was also just enough touch of magic that didn't seem unrealistic. I highly recommend.

There aren't too many non-strategy poker books out there so I was happy to see that one finally appeared on audible. Even though I was not really interested in Annie Duke I downloaded it anyway.

If you know about poker then you can skip the first 3 or 4 chapters. It starts out explaining each and every poker term which I guess needs to be done for the non poker playing public. For me, that and the entire chapter that basically thanked each person Annie has ever met was very boring and a waste of bandwidth. After all of that was out of the way, the book got more interesting. I liked how she mixed up the present with past events...it kept the book interesting and moving well. She is also a better reader than some other readers I have downloaded from this site. Overall it wasn't bad.

The first half was a little slow but then it picked up as the book went on. There are better and worse books out there. It was the first in this series that I have listened to and may not listen to another.

It kept me interested, but not like I couldn't put it down. The twist another reviewer spoke about, I had figured out about half way through as well as some other things at the end. I guess it was typical of these types of books though. The reader was a little annoying at times and there were times that I couldn't figure out which character was speaking. It wasn't bad though.Not bad

As others said, the reason for the crimes was a little out there. It got to the point where I had to go back a few times because there were no many characters and suspects involved in the plot, that I kept losing track.

Enjoyable fast paced listen though.

I thought the first 90% of it was very good. Then some event happened (don't want to spoil it) and the book grinded to a halt. There was an annoying Sheriff throughout the entire story that didn't seem to have much to do with what was going on. He would just drone on about how the world changed and blah blah blah for 5 minutes at a time. Then the actual story would pick back up again. I think the last 10 minutes or so was just the Sheriff talking and then it just ended. I would have thought that the download cut off, but I actually heard "The End". Maybe they'll come up with an alternate ending or something and I'll give it another star.

Reader was boring and I really didn't care about the characters. It felt like the neverending book. I've had 20 hour books that seemed shorter than this, so when I looked back and saw it was only 8 hrs I couldn't believe it.

Great story. I got a little bored at times because the reader was a bit non-excited, which I guess fit the main character. The reader could have had more engery during the exciting parts though. I guess that's my only complaint.

It started off a little slow but picked up towards the end. The reader did a lot better job with "The Narrows", which was also a better book than this.
