From the beginning I was captured by the author's use of "Texas" colloquialisms. I found myself laughing out loud with "glued zippers" and allergies. Add this to your list this is a fun and entertaining book!
This is my first exposure to the author Roberts, I pray this will not be his last book!
I wish I could be as articulate has Roberts to describe to you how incredible and insightful I found this book.
I never thought much about India, nor it's people, but I now have a new insight and a passion to learn more.
Roberts described in such vivid details the characters, their personalities and nuances, that you formed a bond with each major character. Just from his discriptions and interaction, you became one with the story, you were there. For a writer to be able to capture the reader and take you with him as though you were experiencing what he was experiencing is a unique talent...many strive for, few obtain.
I cannot recommend this highly enough.
Very few times in my reading and listening history have I been so moved and captivated with a book.
Well worth listening to!!
The beginning was slow, and felt like it took too long to set the up the characters, but after the intial staging, I could not stop listening to this book. I was captivated by the hypnotic way she pronounced the names, the places the flamenco. It made me want to research the dance, the places she mentioned and the history of the Gypsy. I was transported back and could hear the guitar the clicking of the shoes and the wailing of poet. I was constantly amazed at the twists and turns as the characters developed matured. I am a romantic, and this book certainly fulfilled my high expectations.
Although the author beat the subject to death, the funny and witty lines throughout made the audio enjoyable and definetely worth listening to.
