As a rule I listen to the preview of any book before purchasing and unfortunately some of the value of the content of the book may have been lost to me, because I was disconnected to Brian Tracy's narration.
There were a couple places where I bookmarked, it was a quick listen and I expected to listen in one sitting, however my reluctance made this a very loooong listen.
For those who need grassroot foundation tactics to get organized this would be a good place to start.
In the first moments of the book when it talked about sending teens to a survival camp I was hooked and was more focussed on learning where this camp is and how can I send my own teen there. This was fleeting at best. As with all books designed to help oneself, I was quickly reminded that Peace starts within not with others with whom we do not have Peace with.
I found myself nodding in agreement throughout most of the book as the narrative told the story of where "I" within the conflict which holds out Peace in my world. I found myself connecting to the characters, not just as parents, but as people.
The narrator did an exceptional job in conveying the individuals and my attention was held rapt.
The only thing I wished for was a .pdf download of the diagrams that they spoke about in the book. I will be buying either the actual book or downloading the kindle version in hopes of seeing those diagrams whilst listening again to the book.
I feel that this will be a book to serve as a foundation for me and invite anyone to invest in absorbing its contents.
Best book I've listened too back to back! Love the delivery of the content. Love the clear, concise content. Whether you are new to self helpery or a veteran! Brilliant, Sassy & BADASS!!!
Danielle's voice is one that engaged me to listen intently and truly hear her, and listen to her words. Her format in order to start your fire is one that is rooted in your soul, and she invites you to Feel, and stoke your inner fire.
I think this book is for anyone who is looking to feel differently about their lives, their contributions to the world and is relevant in all ways, not just for building a business.
I value and appreciate her personal collection of teachers in books and in person. She depicts a well read, curious about life and openness that grants this book a more personal feel.
If you are one of the squillions who have watched Brene Brown on TedTalks or Oprah's Super Soul Sunday you may empathize with my review. I missed hearing the book narrated by Brene Brown herself. Lauren Fortgang's effort was not without merit, however after having been engaged by watching Brene then buying the books I missed her delivery of her own words.
The book itself was worth the investment, I've listened twice since purchasing.
I downloaded the first chapter for free and decided to read it on my Kindle.
Since I am currently living as an expat in Western Europe I definitely identified with the character, the moving overseas, the starting anew. I enjoyed the details on their trips to different cities, which I have also visited so again made a connection.
The story itself was alright, at times difficult to follow between present tense and flashing back.
I was really looking forward to this book, unfortunately my expectations were not met. There were certainly some body language myths which he dispelled, and I did learn of a couple body language keys that I didn't know.
Honestly it was just ok, I found myself spacing out then coming back and rather than rewind to see what I missed just pushed through to the end.
As suggested in the audio book, my intention was to take on the challenges offered before listening further. However the content was so interesting I found myself drawn in...hence lack of will power.
However, I appreciated the information on studies performed, tasks suggested and results tabulated on willpower.
I appreciated the personal content from his experience in the classroom teaching this as a course.
I have a list of challenges that I will be applying some refreshed willpower motivators to.
Well worth the time and credit invested.
I have been a fan of Julia Cameron's morning pages since 1992, Mark Levy's taken this concept another step by embellishing the practicality and effectiveness of this technique.
The exercises he offered in the book made it impractical for me to listen while commuting as I was perpetually drawn to want to pause and give myself the ten minutes. However having listened through once, I will start again, this time with hands poised over the keyboard or with pen in hand.
For those who are drawn to writing as a hobby or profession, this book is loaded with great sources to create prompts to get the words flowing. For those who are drawn to writing as a means of releasing the jumble within your mind, I stand behind my title of this review in that this technique can help you to use "Writing to Right your Way".
For those who are neither drawn to nor use writing as a tool, I feel this would be an effective approach to stimulate your communication technique of choice and add value.
The narrator was brilliant, the one addendum is that I felt at times he spoke to quickly and I gratefully employed the 30sec rewind button numerous times.
I read this book a year ago and laughed and sniggered aloud ...throughout! I Loved It! When I was looking for a light and entertaining listen I was so excited to see that this was on audio.
I completely subscribe to this fictional idea and like to think that JC did have a buddy like Biff!
