"Good story. Horrible, horrible narrator."
Yes, I loved the story however the narrator was absolutely horrible. She did ok on the characters voices but the straight reading was so monotone it was just about unbearable. If I wasn't so "into" the story, I would have returned it for another book. After dozens and dozens of books and many different narrators, this is the worse one and the only one which led me to even consider returning a book. I'm sorry, I know that's mean and I've questioned people before who gave bad reviews of narrators; now I realize how they felt. If the narration is bad, the book is way off.
Never.
No. I'm satisfied with the ending.
Listen to the narrator before you buy to see if you can tolerate her voice.
"Love it!"
Got Chemestry? YES!!!!!!
Way too many to sum it down to just one. I did like the moment he proposed though. Cleverly done! "How about THIS house?" :)
She pretty good with the exception of the male voices. Not bad enough to make me dislike it, just not very masculine or sexy.
Many!
I love, love, love, loved this book! From almost the very beginning it was fantastic. Not very often do you find the chemistry between the hero and hereon this good. Its just hard to re-create in a book but the banter between these two and the comedy is outstanding. Not over-done sex scenes either! I've read several of LK's books (well had them read to me) and this one is by far my fave. I couldn't help but laugh out loud several times. The hereon is quite feisty and she gives the hero hell but he loves her anyway!
"Loved it!"
What didn't I like?
Dageus of course.
Both actually.
Very good book. I hate that the series is over. This one will make you laugh and even cry just a little. Well worth it!
"Hated for it to end!"
Top 3!
The ending of course.
Drustan.
Love survives the test of time!
So far this is the BEST of the Highlander series. I've still got the last one to go, which by the reviews I've read, I think its going to be even better but I'm not sure how it could be! I'm looking forward to the last book of the series but am also sad that the series is ending.
"Liked it."
When the hero got Jamie away from her family!
Good book. Good narration. A lot better than Anne Flosnik and Susan Duerden as narrators. Those are painful to listen to.
"Good story. Horrible, horrible narrator."
I really enjoyed the story. Lots of funny moments when the heroin constantly getting into trouble.
Anyone but her.
Once again a good book almost ruined by a bad narrator. Also, I found it very difficult to "like" the hero. He was always so mean. There was too much shaking of the heroin which really bothered me. I was afraid the poor woman was going to get "shaken lady syndrome".
"Good story. Horrible, horrible narrator."
I loved the entire story. The only bad part was the narrators voice overs. They're pretty bad but when talking normal, not as someones voice, she is fine. She makes the "hero" and most of the men sound like they're the psycho in a murder story instead of a normal person. The two main female characters have children's voices throughout the entire book which is almost as annoying as the male characters voices. However, if you can't through that, I highly recommend this one. I didn't want it to end. I just loved the hero. I also loved the heroin. She was feisty and didn't cry at the drop of a hat like the heroin in the last JG book I read.
Most of the story was pretty good.
Her male characters voices were absolutely horrible.
Yes and I just about did!
Please, please, please, get a decent narrator!
"What an adorable story!"
So adorably cute!
This was a very surprising book. Not my normal read but I figured what they heck, I'll give it a go. The story was so sweet I think I may have gained a cavity! The ONLY bad part of this entire book was the voice for the child! It was HORRIBLE. However other than that one voice this is the best narrator I've heard so far. I plan on looking for more of her readings because she is that good, that soothing. She brought laughs where they were meant to be when if you were just reading the book, I'm sure you wouldn't put the laughs there. She was absolutely great! Other than that one voice!
"Narrator ruined it"
The story was very good. I liked the characters and the story line. However, the narrator was horrible. It took everything I had to continue to listen. The only reason I continued to listen was because I liked the story-line & characters. I can't understand why someone would invest so much into a book simply to ruin the entire thing by using a horrible narrator.
Horrid voice and the voice she used for the hero was unbelievably rediculous.
find another book but with a different narrator.
If you can stand the narrator, the book is definitely good. However the narrator takes so much of a good story and makes it almost bad.
"SPOILER"
The book seemed to drag on. It did have some interesting moments. The ending was not what I expected and that pretty much ruined it for me.
the ending.
the cat!
