This is one of my favorite books of all time. I love the Narrator, but I think that the production was a bit too much with the dramatic music and the inserted laughter after "he laughed". It could have done without that. That made it a bit cheesy. And this book is so spectacular it really didn't need the added theatrics.
However, this is a must-listen or read for everyone!
I absolutely loved this book! Not only was it action packed, but the characters were well developed, and the structure was perfect. The plot was so creative and I love that it spanned both the globe and centuries. The use of historical figures and events was great! I'll be recommending this book to friends, for sure!
I love that I never knew what was coming. Don't even try to predict what's going to happen, because you won't be able to. Loved it!
At first? Hot! At second? Hotish, and a bit... WHOA? But by the seventy millionth time you hear the same sex scene repeated... it just gets lame. This first book was just ok. Enough story to keep you going, but couldn't the author get more creative with her adjectives?! The 2nd and 3rd books have a better story, but the repetitive stuff doesn't stop.
I truly enjoyed this, as I do all of Sophie Kinsella's novels. I never want the stories to end, because I love listening to them, and they're the perfect easy lighthearted fun "read."
The characters were very likable and believable.
The woods texting!
Didn't want it to end!
I love the story. The story is great. No complaints. Ed Westwick is fantastic. However, Molly Quinn is almost unlistenable! "Gently" is not pronounced "Gintly". "Tentacles" is not pronounced "Tinticles." I can usually tolerate sub-par narration, but Molly's mispronounciation of the letter E was unbearable.
The entire Song of Ice and Fire series is wonderful, but this book by far is the best. Nobody weaves a tale quite like George R. R. Martin, and he is at his absolute best in this book. At the end of each Point Of View Chapter, I wish it hadn't ended. Then, by the end of the next one, I wished THAT one hadn't ended. The story propels you, and surprises you again and again and again. Fantastic. Furthermore, Roy Dotrice is an absolute master. The narration in this series is second to none.
I'm amazed that King was able to create such a LARGE amount of characters, and have me care so deeply about them. This book features a huge cast, but you don't get lost. Listening to it, you feel like a citizen of this town along with all the others. And Jim Rennie is just about the hardest-to-stomach villain I've ever read. Yet, in his evilness, there is humor. I laughed at how horrible he was. I loved this book... and was captivated from the very beginning. I was shocked it was 32 hours long... it just sailed by. Great read!
I'm usually really easy to please, and not a harsh critic, but I totally couldn't get into this book. I'll admit, this was my first attempt at Nora Roberts. Are all her books this way? I love the genre of adventure / romance, which is why I bought this. But I could NOT latch on to the characters at all, and before I knew it they were already "in love", when I didn't think anything had even begun. It felt like I missed something, but I didn't. The Heroine falls for this guy before there is even any build up or anything desirable about him! Very strange. It made it impossible to feel any connection whatsoever.
Maybe it is the narration that I didn't like. It's read very very quickly, with no pause between sentences or phrases, as if she were trying to just get through the thing. Also, the accents just lost me.
I didn't even download the second half of this book. 2 hours in, I give up.
