One finger has been severed from her left hand, and behind her eyelid is secreted a tiny red diamond in the shape of a five-pointed star – a pentagram, the devil’s star. Detective Harry Hole is assigned to the case with his long-time adversary Tom Waaler and initially wants no part in it. But Harry is already on notice to quit the force and is left with little alternative but to drag himself out of his alcoholic stupor and get to work. A wave of similar murders is on the horizon. FBI analyst Kassidy Bishop is assigned to the "'For You' Killer" task force after a series of sadistic murders bearing the same signature arise in different parts of the country. The homicides are both calculated and savage, occurring in different states, but bearing the same signature: the words "for you" scribbled at each crime scene. The case chills Kassidy, bringing back memories of her own encounter with a violent criminal five years earlier.

I enjoyed this book. It was different. It had twists and turns and held my attention. I thought the narrator was excellent. Her tone was on the soft spoken side and expressed each character differently. It was really nice. I hope to hear a lot more from her.

A five-digit number is scrawled in blood at the murder scene. The autopsy reveals an old and unsuccessfully covered tattoo on the corpse's arm - a blood type marker once used by Hitler's SS. This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    Ugggg

Would you ever listen to anything by Nele Neuhaus again?

    Not after this.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Pronunciation of names slurred. Jumped into chapters too quickly.

What character would you cut from The Ice Queen?

None. And there were so many with so many long foreign names how could one keep track? And for this situation.gel, easy to figure out in the beginning plot?

    Any additional comments?

I bought her first books but can see she's trying to get too complicated and pretentious so. Never again! If they'll take it back I'll return it.

What other book might you compare A Thin Dark Line to and why?

What about Karen Peakes’s performance did you like?

One of the best. I usually don't like female narrators but I would listen to anything Karen Peake did in the future. She's on a par with the best!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I couldn't put it down. It had a bit of everything.

    Any additional comments?

The writing was great and it had plenty twists and turns. The main characters were exceptional. I hope she makes a series out of these two main characters.

An ordinary snapshot causes a mother’s world to unravel in an instant. After picking up her two young children from school, Grace Lawson looks through a newly developed set of photographs. She finds an odd one in the pack: A mysterious picture from perhaps twenty years ago, showing four strangers she can’t identify. But there is one face she recognizes—that of her husband, from before she knew him. When her husband sees the photo that night, he leaves their home and drives off without explanation.

Clare Cosi used to manage the historic Village Blend coffeehouse…until she opted for quieter pastures and a more suburban life. But after ten years and a little friendly cajoling from the owner (a fresh pot of Jamaican Blue Mountain was all it took), she's back to the grind. With a sprawling rent-free apartment directly above the Village Blend, her cat Java by her side, and plenty of coffeehouse redecorating ideas, Clare is thrilled to return to work. Until she discovers the assistant manager unconscious in the back of the store, coffee grounds strewn everywhere.

What did you love best about On What Grounds?

The Story was very good but I'm taking the time to write a review because normally I don't like female narrators. However, Ribeca Gibel is the best I have ever heard! If I see her name again as a narrator I'll check out that book.

What did you like best about this story?

    The narrator.

    Any additional comments?

    Best female narrator I've heard.

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Harlan Coben set huge sales records with last year’s Six Years - and he’s poised to do it again in his next breathtaking stand-alone thriller. Harlan Coben, author of six consecutive instant number-one New York Times best sellers and a total of 24 award-winning, best-selling, and internationally acclaimed novels, returns with another ripped-from-real-life thriller full of impossibly high emotional stakes and the real-to-life characters for which he has become famous.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

Would you try another book from Gillian Flynn and/or Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne ?

Yes because she writes well. It's just that this concept would put two people in asylums in real life, and one behind bars at least.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

No. It began to get very frustrating.

Which character – as performed by Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne – was your favorite?

    None

Could you see Gone Girl being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, with a different ending. The level of "Sickness" on a psychological level was really disturbing. It wasn't really believable that any man would stay and also that any woman could get away with this.

    Any additional comments?

I understand it on a deeper level, but…It gives me a hopeless feeling about the state of humanity. Also, really, if you looked into her past you would realize that the vindictive things she pulled before would tend to make anyone but the dumbest police investigators suspicious. So there were plenty flaws in this story.

Is this one of those Da Vinci Code deals? The secret scroll, the blockbuster revelation, the teams of murderous bad guys? Should I be boning up on my Bible verses? He looks at the cop.
