This book was not a typical read that I could predict. There were twist and turns that held my interest. I found myself antsy to get in my car waiting to hear the next few chapters on my way to work!
Teddi was a real character, down home, loving, smart, courageous, and determined to say the least. She had a great family, yet they had their issues - minor ones, but issues none the less.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves the South, the East Coast, the accents, antiques, and old history.
I am not from the East Coast, but these are kind of books I search for the most.
Loved it! Beth Hoffman wrote Cee Cee Honeycutt and I thoroughly enjoyed that book as well!
Awesome book! Picked it partially because of the narration, she was super good! I liked the time period of the book and the real life story about Nick and Lily. It held my interest and it was over to fast. Will listen again and highly recommend!
I loved the history about this book, but did not care for the narrators. Normally, I like Karen White narration, but this one, I almost did not listen to the entire book. The story line kept me wanting more, so I finished it. On another note, can't wait for more of the Tradd Street series Karen!!!
Mary Kay Andrews and Kathleen McInerney are awesome together! I will read this book again! I couldn't wait to jump in my car and listen - the ending was superb!!! Keep writing Mary Kay!!
Loved it! I also enjoy listening to Kathleen McInerney!! Held my interest, totally. This was around 1914 and I love history. The story line kept me wanting for more! Violet's life was indeed secret until her niece............. : )
A must listen!
Great book! All of Karen White's books for far, I have enjoyed. There was some suspense, which was great, and the book kept going forward with new surprises. Narration was good, will listen again! Suzanne Paris is to hard on herself and had a troubled childhood. Things work themselves out - glad I purchased!
Great story about Anna Jane and her marriage, x-husband, and future husband. She has trial and tribulations along the way with family, friends, and acquaintances. Everyone is not as they seem and Anna Jane finds out how deceitful some people can be. Will listen again! Great narration.
Melanie and Jack are at it again! And with the ghosts in the house, it makes it as interesting as all the other books that Karen White has published in this series! I love it when Karen leaves a cliff hanger at the end, so that the story can continue. Highly recommend. The narrator is great and I hope that Karen continues to use Aimee Bruneau. On pins and needles till the next chapter in the life of the Trenholm's. To quote Karen, "In other good news, there's a chance that the series could make it onto the small screen in a TV series in the near future". I'm so excited !!!
What a life to have led!!! Wonderful characters, narrator, and story line! Some people were so critical back then and unforgiving. Beattie Blacksland worked so hard to get ahead and it paid off for her. She didn't let the naysayers get the best of her.
Historial books are my favorite. History is important, I think, so that we know what happened before we were all here. I will listen to this book again.
Liked the book alot. Almost felt sorry for the husband, but the secret he kept, deserved to be told. Would read this book again, like the narration too!
Best book ever! Absolutely could not wait to jump in my car and listen! Great narration, characters - what an imagination by the author! I am sure that the things that are in this book really happened back in the early 1900s. People were so proper and stressed about their good name and reputation, that they would do almost anything to protect it. I was sad when the story ended and I hope there is a sequel !
