  • The Bride Collector

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Ted Dekker
    • Narrated By John Glover
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

FBI Special agent Brad Raines is facing his toughest case yet. A Denver serial killer has killed four beautiful young women, leaving a bridal veil at each crime scene, and he's picking up his pace. Unable to crack the case, Raines appeals for help from a most unusual source: residents of the Center for Wellbeing and Intelligence, a private psychiatric institution for mentally ill individuals whose are extraordinarily gifted.

    "Can't wait for more!"

Suspenseful and full of intrigue! Dekker creates colorful characters, rich with idiosyncrasies, and masterfully weaves them through this macabre tale of a serial killer and the degrees of mental illness that plague the extremely intelligent mind. I can't wait for more from this brilliant author!

  • Broken

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 25 mins)
    • By Karin Slaughter
    • Narrated By Natalie Ross
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When the body of a young woman is discovered deep beneath the icy waters of Lake Grant, a note left under a rock by the shore points to suicide. But within minutes, it becomes clear that this is no suicide. It's a brutal, cold-blooded murder. All too soon former Grant County medical examiner Sara Linton - home for Thanksgiving after a long absence - finds herself unwittingly drawn into the case.

    "Save Your Credit - HORRIBLE"
    What disappointed you about Broken?

Too much time spent on details that led absolutely nowhere (i.e. the restoration of a Porsche - it had absolutely NOTHING to do with anything and it was continually being brought up). The characters lacked depth. The 'medical' in this 'medical thriller' was (paraphrasing), "Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart, and veins carry deoxygenated blood back towards the heart." *Gasp* What? You don't say?! Yes, that was sarcasm.

What could Karin Slaughter have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Rewritten it with more focus on what was actually going on.

Would you be willing to try another one of Natalie Ross’s performances?

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Extreme annoyance and anger.

    Any additional comments?

Save your money and time. Absolutely HORRIBLE.

  • The Passage: The Passage Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (36 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Justin Cronin
    • Narrated By Scott Brick, Adenrele Ojo, Abby Craden
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

First, the unthinkable: a security breach at a secret U.S. government facility unleashes the monstrous product of a chilling military experiment. Then, the unspeakable: a night of chaos and carnage gives way to sunrise on a nation, and ultimately a world, forever altered. All that remains for the stunned survivors is the long fight ahead and a future ruled by fear—of darkness, of death, of a fate far worse.

"Trying to ride on the coattails of the Vampire fad"

I took a risk with this book, and came up on the short end of the deal. The Passage did have a good beginning, but went quickly downhill. The vampire theme is rather juvenile, faddish and overused. The 'action' scenes are lacking something ... maybe suspense and drama? Very predictable. I do not recommend this book.

  • The Overton Window

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By Glenn Beck
    • Narrated By James Daniels
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

A plan to destroy America, a hundred years in the making, is about to be unleashed. There is a powerful technique called the Overton Window that can shape our lives, our laws, and our future. It works by manipulating public perception so that ideas previously thought of as radical begin to seem acceptable over time. Move the Window and you change the debate. Change the debate and you change the country.

Cobra0435 says: "It Could Happen Soon"

Note to progressives: you will hate this book as it exposes a great deal of the progressive agenda. Note to the rest of the world: you will be amazed & enlightened as Beck reveals how we have all been manipulated by the world's media spin doctors, PR firms, & politicians that 'run' our countries. Once again, EVERYone I know is getting a copy of this book from me. OUTSTANDING read!

  • Book of Souls

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Glenn Cooper
    • Narrated By Mark Boyett
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Former FBI Special Agent Will Piper solved and survived the "Doomsday Killer" case, and his reward was a forced early retirement. But the shattering truths he learned about the government's most covert operations won't let him rest and now he's on the trail of a mysterious volume that's been lost for six centuries.

    "Must Read!"

A cross between Brown's DaVinci Code & Follett's Pillars of the Earth, Cooper gives a fast and thrilling read. I highly recommend reading The Secret of the Seventh Son, which is the prequel to this book, before delving into this one, as it provides greater depth into the history of the Books and the Order. Both novels are excellent.

  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: The Millennium Trilogy, Book 1

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Stieg Larsson
    • Narrated By Simon Vance
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

Pamela Murphy says: "COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN"
"I kept waiting for the wonderful"

This book is an extremely slow and torturous read. I kept waiting for the 'intrigue', 'suspense', and 'fascination' the others who reviewed this book commented on. There was an incredible amount of irrelevant and mundane information, dead-end and undeveloped characters, and an overwhelming use of annoyingly repetitive email correspondence dissertation. The 'spunky' girl whom some reviewers seemed to adore is an emotionally and mentally damaged autistic savant, and the protagonist is a sex crazed liberal journalist. Over all: horribly written, with poorly developed characters. Was this his first book? He definitely needs an editor.

  • The Christmas Sweater

    • UNABRIDGED (4 hrs and 49 mins)
    • By Glenn Beck
    • Narrated By Glenn Beck
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Eddie was 12 years old, all he wanted for Christmas was a bike. Although his life had gotten harder - and money tighter - since his father died and the family bakery closed...Eddie dreamed that somehow his mother would find a way to have his dream bike gleaming beside their modest Christmas tree that magical morning. What he got from her instead was a sweater. "A stupid, handmade, ugly sweater" that young Eddie left in a crumpled ball in the corner of his room.

    Chris says: "Very Rewarding Listen"
    "Life Changing"

I am giving EVERYone I know a copy of this for Christmas. You'll need two boxes of tissues as Glenn takes you by the hand and leads you through a life changing story of hope lost and faith found, then brings you full-circle to what truly matters and how to have it. This is a story that will become a time honored tradition in our home. Bravo!
