Debt of Honor ends as Jack Ryan is confirmed vice president minutes before a mammoth act of terrorism kills the President, most of his cabinet, all but a few members of Congress, the entire Supreme Court and all of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Suddenly Ryan is President, which is where Executive Orders begins.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot was excellent, and not always predictable, at points I was cringing with emotion waiting to hair how things would unfold.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narator spoke to slowly. I suggest listening at a faster speed 1.25x or 1.5x to tolerate his voice.

It's the 1960s and the world of advertising is coming alive - and it's an exciting world to be part of. Simon Wong, a Chinese-Australian and promising young advertising executive, is sent to Singapore to establish an office. He finds himself thrust into an environment that is at once strangely familiar and profoundly different; one where the rules that govern behaviour - both in business and in personal life - differ wildly from what he is used to. And where all is not what it appears to be.

What disappointed you about Fortune Cookie?

Sadly, I purchased this book whilst on holiday, hoping for the regular brillance and story telling of Bryce Courtenay, but I was sadly disappointed.

Princess Inos lived an idyllic life in her fathers' sleepy, backwater kingdom, and she was best friends with her childhood companion, the stableboy, Rap. But when a prophecy seemed to say Inos should be married, she was exiled to the Impire to learn to be a lady. She was far away when Rap's magical talents began to emerge, and it was he who told her of the fate awaiting them both.

What did you love best about Magic Casement?

An incredibly well written and performed series. The various personalities were well thought out.

What other book might you compare Magic Casement to and why?

Elements of the storyline reminds me of David Farlands The Sum of All Men. Absolutely gripping and unpredictable.

Acclaimed author Michael J. Sullivan created instant best sellers with his spellbinding Riyria Revelations series. This first volume introduces Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater, two enterprising thieves who end up running for their lives when they’re framed for the death of the king. Trapped in a conspiracy bigger than they can imagine, their only hope is unraveling an ancient mystery - before it’s too late.

Where does Theft of Swords rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

A fantastic story that kept me gripped to the end. This is how fantasy is supposed to be written. Great narration too.

The four dead guards didn’t concern Mitch Rapp as much as the absence of the man they’d been paid to protect. Joe Rickman wasn’t just another foot soldier. For the last eight years Rickman had ran the CIA’s clandestine operations in Afghanistan. It was a murky job that involved working with virtually every disreputable figure in the Islamic Republic. More than a quarter billion dollars in cash had passed through Rickman’s hands during his tenure as the master of black ops and no one with a shred of sense wanted to know the details of how that money had been spent.

    Any additional comments?

I have downloaded and enjoyed all of Mitch Rapp series, even the ones with the questionable narrators. This one was superb in places but I was disappointed with the plot that I felt was a little thin and VERY predictable at the end. I do hope that Flynn is not losing his touch. I still enjoyed the plot.

Clancy plunges hero Jack Ryan into nonstop high adventure, as two seemingly unrelated occurrences being a chain of events that will stun the world. Called out of retirement to serve as National Security Advisor to the president, Ryan, with the help of CIA officers John Clark and Domingo Chavez, must prepare the untested president to meet the challenges of a new world order.

Would you try another book from Tom Clancy and/or John MacDonald?

I enjoy Tom Clancy's plots and am happy to listen to more, but will avoid further books narrated by John MacDonald.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of John MacDonald?

George Guidall would have made this book much more enjoyable. John MacDonald sounded almost robotic so I had to increase the listening speed to 1.5x.

Was Debt of Honor worth the listening time?

    Definitely worth listening to.

To make matters worse, Saddam Hussein is close to entering the nuclear arms race - something Israel has vowed to stop. With the haunting specter of World War III looming, the president calls on his secret weapon: top counter-terrorism operative Mitch Rapp. But with only two weeks to take out the nukes, Rapp is up against a ticking clock - and impossible odds.

Would you consider the audio edition of Separation of Power to be better than the print version?

After listening to this audio version I would definitely prefer the print version .

What didn’t you like about Ken Kilban’s performance?

Kilban repeated said the word 'lived' incorrectly and made the main character sound unstable in many instances. His performance was so disconcerting that I had to play about with the audio speed (1.25x) to find a speed that I could tolerate for the rest of the book. Such a disappointment.

  • The Company: A Novel of the CIA

"If Robert Littell didn't invent the American spy novel," says Tom Clancy, "he should have." In this spectacular Cold-War-as-Alice-in-Wonderland epic, Littell, "the American le Carre," takes us down the rabbit hole and into the labyrinthine world of espionage that has been the CIA for the last half-century. "Ostensibly a single novel, The Company can also be listened to as an anthology of cracking good spy stories," says (Publishers Weekly).

Would you consider the audio edition of The Company to be better than the print version?

Definitely was much easier to listen to this book than to read it as the stories flowed much easier at the beginning.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

Scott Brick was an excellent choice of narrator as he kept an even pace and his characters were flawless.
