The mining ship El Cavador is far out from Earth, in the deeps of the Kuiper Belt, beyond Pluto. Other mining ships, and the families that live on them, are few and far between this far out. So when El Cavador’s telescopes pick up a fast-moving object coming in-system, it’s hard to know what to make of it. It’s massive and moving at a significant fraction of the speed of light.

El Cavador has other problems. Their systems are old and failing. The family is getting too big for the ship. There are claim-jumping corporate ships bringing Asteroid Belt tactics to the Kuiper Belt.

    Story
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The time listening to this book was ONLY well spent due to the fact I listen to them while at work. I used to be a HUGE OSC fan but after this and shadows in flight it has completely occurred to me that OSC is only riding the coattails of the enderverse now. The story could have been finished long before it was and could have ended much neater than it did.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not OSC. Patrick Rothfus is coming on strong with his new series going to try that one

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

His voice is easy to listen to, he defines the characters very well. No confusion on who is talking. That was nice.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

    Absolutely not.
