I have never listened to a FULL CAST audio before, but for some reason it made me think of families sitting around the radio listening to The Lone Ranger or whatever the shows was before Television. I fully enjoyed it and the story and the characters. Everyone I know has been telling me "read it!" , "Read it!" so I did. Not disappointed at all about the story. I did miss all the descriptive text you get in a normal audio book but all in all I got all I needed from this.
His performance was great. Captured the voices and emotion well.
Post apocalyptic world, with the USA planting seeds of american soldiers to rebuild the government. Sounds like an impossible task, but thats what makes it interesting. Can Lee do it? I want to believe he can! This is the first in three books (the magic number it seems for a series) and leaves off in a great position for the next book. This is not your regular zombie book, because there is more in this story that "we need to survive", and more like "We need to survive and rebuild".
Finding out who "Leroy Jenkins" really is outside of WoW.
Let me say one thing about this book, "Physics rocks!"
I had high hopes for this book being such a fan of the three previous books to this point. I was greatly satisfied. It had me reading at lunch at work, at work, and up late at night. Its not like the other books, but in its self a great work of Sci-Fi.
It was a great read(Listen) , and highly recommend this book if you love tech, and Scf-Fi.
Only one thing I had to get over, John Grady sounded just like John Ross. My mind resolved it quickly.
Let me start by saying that I now understand when a movies says "Based on the book _______ by _______". If its is based on it , it doesn't necessarily have to follow it. In this case there was a few things that match the movie but just a few.
This book is written in a way that I could relate to, sympathize with, and get into. I mean I don't know exactly how he could feel but this gives me background to understand. Im curious now to see how the other books in this series goes.
Despite the cover that makes it look like a teen book, it has much more content than you might have expected.
I was presently surprised by this book. The main character was "Full of awesome" , the AI was stupid and THEN got smarter, and it kept me reading. I wasn't expecting it to be as technical but it was and that always makes me happy. The only thing I was disappointed by is that "Jagster" is not a real search engine. I think I am going to like this series.
This book had so many elements , and was put together well. I really enjoyed the first person switching, and the effort it took to imagine all of this information. Bob is easily my favorite character, and look forward to more. I highly recommend this book for Sci-Fi fans.
This was what I expected it to be, lots of running and zombies. I got this for free and what I'm guessing a sample to see if I can get into the series. At the end I didn't really think I would like it, BUT I also got a sample of the second book - a chapter or two. That got my attention, and set a better stage then the first book. I will move on to it as soon as I read a couple of other books I had lined up
I took a chance and read this book with a cheese title, and ended up liking it a lot. It played out well for me and kept me. Now keep in mind I love books with AI, robots and in the near future. I also like the first person inner monologue of a aware AI, that was new for me. This was a good read.
The book is a love / hate relationship in my mind. it evolved and changed into what I felt was an ending that worked and didn't work in my mind in the same time. If you have read the first two books, then it is defiantly worth listening. Stay steady and make it to the end and you will understand what it is all about.
Im not really good at reviews but I can say a few things. The story blended well with the first book, and took turns that I didn't expect. I was excited to read this and I was happy that I did. Its nice to read a story with such complicated ideas in it. I patiently wait for more from this author.
I purchased this book two months before I listened to it. I was suprised how soon I was cought up in the story line. Excelent reader, and story make for a wonderful time. I have already started the second book. Great example of near future sci-fi!
