    "Boring"
    Overall

I bought this audiobook because of the amazing reviews it received in amazon. I liked the whole idea of casters and witches, but the truth is, the story is painfully boring.
According to the authors, the protagonist is a teenage boy, but he could easily pass as a girl.
The book is too long, and I waited patiently until chapter 6 to something happen.
And how about the constant i-can't-be-with-you-cause-it's-dangerous ? OMG, it's a nightmare.
Ok, they are teenagers, but this formula is so old.
And the plot had reall potential, though you could come up with it in fifteen minutes, without much effort.
Don't waste your time on this. Aside from the twilight series, I still didn't find a single supernatural YA fiction worth reading. If you have a recommendation, pleeeeease, let me know.

In the aftermath of the brutal murder of his father, Richard Cypher encounters a mysterious woman, Kahlan Amnell, in his forest sanctuary. She seeks his help...and more. His world, his very beliefs, are shattered when ancient debts come due with thundering violence.

    "Terrible"
    Overall

This is a terrible story. Do NOT buy it. I simply ignored the other reviews, and really should have take them seriously. The whole idea of the author was to write some wannabe Lord of the Rings plot with a lot of travel, fighting and romance. He fails miserably. The traveling is just as bad as Tolkien, describing every boring detail of the scenario. The fighting is also bad because they are just beaten all the time. And I won't event talk about the romance. What really freaked me out was the slow pace and the never ending conflicts with no sub-plots. It seems like a hack-and-slash D&D game to me. Without the fun.
His protagonist, Richard, is utterly shallow, stupid and although the author tries to make you think so, he is not clever. In fact there is no good character at all. But what really ruins the story is the freaking habit of the author of trying to make you hate the villain. He tries everything to give you the idea of how awful and bad, bad, bad the antagonist is. It is like he thinks that we don't have intelligence enough to come up with conclusions by ourselves.
The narrator is good, but he can't do all the job, can he?
