Abilene Tucker feels abandoned. Her father has put her on a train, sending her off to live with an old friend for the summer while he works a railroad job. Armed only with a few possessions and her list of universals, Abilene jumps off the train in Manifest, Kansas, aiming to learn about the boy her father once was. Having heard stories about Manifest, Abilene is disappointed to find that it's just a dried-up, worn-out old town. But her disappointment quickly turns to excitement when she discovers a hidden cigar box full of mementos.

What made the experience of listening to Moon Over Manifest the most enjoyable?

The story is set in a small town with interesting characters that are fully developed. The narrator is absolutely terrific. I would highly recommend this book.

On the beautiful Outer World planet of Solaria, a handful of human colonists lead a hermitlike existence, their every need attended to by their faithful robot servants. To this strange and provocative planet comes Detective Elijah Baley, sent from the streets of New York with his positronic partner, the robot R. Daneel Olivaw, to solve an incredible murder that has rocked Solaria to its foundations.

    Any additional comments?

This is one of my favorite science fiction books of all time. I read the paper version 20 years ago and just listened to the audible version recently. The narrator does a much better job in this book than in the first book of the series. This is just a good mystery set in the far future. Could a robot have killed a human? This is just a fascinating exercise in logic and crime solving.

Like most people left behind on an over-populated Earth, police detective Elijah Baley has little love for either the arrogant Spacers or their robotic companions. But when a prominent Spacer is murdered under mysterious circumstances, Baley is ordered to the Outer Worlds to help track down the killer. Then he learns that he has been assigned a partner: R. Daneel Olivaw. Worse, the R stands for "robot" - and his positronic partner is made in the image and likeness of the murder victim!

    Dionne says: "perfectly executed!"

What did you love best about The Caves of Steel?

I love robotics and this science fiction story is great for an introduction to a world filled with robots.

How could the performance have been better?

The narrator was distracting. He made it sound cartoonish. His attempts at accents and voices just didn't work. However he gets much better in the next book of the series.
