From the best-selling author of Think Twice and Look Again comes an emotionally powerful novel about a split-second choice, agonizing consequences, and the need for justice. Rose McKenna volunteers as a lunch mom in her daughter Melly’s school in order to keep an eye on Amanda, a mean girl who’s been bullying her daughter. In the aftermath of a massive explosion, Rose finds herself faced with the horrifying decision of whether or not to rescue Melly or usher Amanda to safety.

    C. Byrnes says: "The Protagonist Was Shallow and Unbelievable"
    "OK"
    Overall

As a woman and as a Mom I have a difficult time reading stories where children are bullied or put in jeopardy. Besides the parents are written as bullies also. So I only listened to half the book. It was not suspenseful.

Formerly an operative of a top secret government agency, he has found a new job with a shadowy company called SOS Inc. Created by a former Navy SEAL, SOS Inc. helps anyone in desperate need - which provides a perfect cover for its other, more perilous objective: covert special operations.

Mizmouse says: "Great story with super narration."
    "suspense?"
    Overall

This book should be listed under romance novels. Not much suspense or mystery.

Four bodies, each with a single bullet wound in the back of the head, stacked like cordwood in a weed-choked vacant lot: That's the front-page news facing Carter Ross, investigative reporter with the Newark Eagle-Examiner. Immediately dispatched to the scene, Carter learns that the four victims - an exotic dancer, a drug dealer, a hustler, and a mama's boy - came from different parts of the city and didn't seem to know one another.

Stephanie says: "Fast Paced, Great Narrator"
    "OK"
    Overall

Rather interesting at times. But rather stupid at more times. There is an edge to Carter Ross sometimes but it never develops and does not last.

In I’ll Walk Alone, Alexandra “Zan” Moreland, a gifted, beautiful interior designer on the threshold of a successful Manhattan career, is terrified to discover that somebody is not only using her credit cards and manipulating her financial accounts to bankrupt her and destroy her reputation, but may also be impersonating her in a scheme that may involve the much more brutal crimes of kidnapping and murder.

    "Good but...."

I like Mary Higgins Clark - sometimes! But "Where Are The Children" is still the best of her books!!

When Judge Calvin Jeffries is found murdered in a courthouse parking lot, the crime shocks the community, but justice is swift. Soon a second judge is stabbed to death. Attorney Joseph Antonelli agrees to defend the accused. What he discovers challenges everything he knows about crime and punishment...and himself. Also available abridged.

    Michael says: "Buffa's Best"
    "Intriguing and sad"
    Overall

Intriguing. Good characters. Sad ending and sad but true that our justice system can be so very much about power and not so much about justice.

Mark Dooher is a prosperous San Francisco attorney and a prominent Catholic, the last person anyone would suspect of a brutal crime. But Dooher, a paragon of success and a master of all he touches, is about to be indicted for murder. Charged with savagely killing his own wife, Dooher is fighting for his reputation and his life in a high-profile case that is drawing dozens of lives into its wake.

    "Too many words"
    Overall

Good story but way too many words. I understand the character development of Dooher and it was well done. But I do not want to believe people can be that gullible.

Beautiful, happily married, and the owner of a successful interior design business, Casey Marshall couldn't be more content with her life, until a car slams into her at almost 50 miles an hour, breaking nearly every bone in her body and plunging her into a coma. Lying in her hospital bed, Casey realizes that although she is unable to see or communicate, she can hear everything.

The story line is interesting but once you know "whodunit" it becomes slow. But the thought of "being a fly on the wall" when others are talking about you is intriguing.

Dr. Chris Shepard is 36 years old, newly married, and well on his way to a perfect life. Or so he believes. But that future is forever cast into doubt the day Special Agent Alexandra Morse walks into his office and drops a bombshell: Dr. Shepard's beautiful new wife is plotting his murder.

    "Too long"
    Overall

It just goes on and on. The bad guy is written too smart and the good guys can not be that dumb. I've heard Dick Hill before and he is good. But this time he is not. Drops off words and end of sentences and is mostly annoying. Maybe abridged version would be OK.
